The debt ceiling is a crisis? The Republican lead Congress created the artificial debt ceiling towards the end of the Clinton Administration because they claimed to care about the growing national debt. After Bush was elected, that Republican led Congress raised the ceiling six times. But these are different times. A Democrat is President, therefore the Republicans claim to care about the growing national debt again. They will continue to care until another Republican gets elected President.

When we hit the debt ceiling, stop congress’ pay FIRST! Then we’ll see how fast they raise it.Come to think of it, why didn’t sequestration and ‘smaller government’ start with congress stopping their automatic pay raises?

Bruce, you don’t need time to show you the truth. All you have to do is ask to see the numbers. The Republicans cannot name a single thing that they want to cut from the government, and therefore cannot present a balanced budget. They WANT to cut Medicare and Social Security, of course, but can’t SAY they want to cut it, because they’ll lose the angry older white voting bloc. Besides, they ran their elections accusing Obama of cutting Medicare and Social Security. They refuse to cut anything else, perhaps because the easy, painless cuts are in defense and in the subsidies we give to hugely profitable corporations and rich individuals.

Grover Norquist is happy. The rich made out like bandits on the deal Obama signed and the poor and middle class get it in the neck again. Some compromise!

I guess everyone knows that there are $80bln in tax breaks and subsidies attached to the $9bln Sandy aid?

    Not necessarily my declaration.

Just wanted to remind “Mr.” Ima that “W” was fond of credit cards.

Perhaps Bush’s spending could’ve gone towards more patriotic causes.
