I just love buried boxes, our house dates back to the 1850s and I just wish there might be one here.

Anybody else find it ironic that a “relocation camp” would be under “Lake Freedom”? Wonder what George Takei would think? Oh my.

And so it begins…. While Mole and Rose and Toad dine discreetly, vile treasure-hunters desecrate an historical site and generate a new adventure for Chief of Detectives Tracy and his MCU….

When the St Laurence river was widened and deepened, to create the Seaway system, several towns were submerged in just this way; some of the most historic homes were saved from the flooding and rebuilt as “Upper Canada Village”, a “living museum” with about 30 buildings

I read the article you linked to about Real Life Superheroes. It’s ironic that one of Phoenix Jones’ requirements is that persons joining his movement NOT be journalists, considering Clark Kent chose journalism as his secret identity cover, and there are several others who have connections to newspapers as well. Peter Parker is a free lance photo-journalist, for example.

Based on the size of the shovel, it looks like a pretty small box. I can’t wait to find out what’s inside. .Is this the first time that a Tracy Sunday strip hasn’t featured a major or minor regular character? This one barely shows any people at all. I don’t recall seeing something like this before.

Nice. And to think, if Locher were doing this strip all we’d have to look forward to were six weeks of repeating pictures of the box and someone saying “it appears to be airtight!”

Oh cool, a third or fourth story running concurrently…..kind of like when you’re listening to the radio, and someone keeps switching stations mid-song just when you’re starting to get into it…..you build up feeling for one, then poof! it disappears, and you try to get instantly in the mood for another…..uhhhh…..hard to do….

One would think that a project to drain a man-made lake would include sufficient security to keep poachers and other sneaks from rummaging around the site with metal detectors … or other objects …

Thanks so much for all the kind comments. Much appreciated. Coldsooner, I recommend Zeitoun by Dave Eggers. It is a powerful, nonfiction tale of one man’s struggles in post-Katrina New Orleans. Be very afraid, indeed.

By statute, the discovery of a historical site brings all planned work to a halt until an archaeological survey is completed.
