Yep, with a matter of one second into the New Year, your taxes will go up $4,000. If a new farm bill isn’t drafted a gallon of milk will go up to $6-8 a gallon. All under Obama’s watch. The buck stops with him. Might as well, he’s taking every buck you make. So much for looking out for the middle-class…

Don’t understand the first two comments! TheTimes newspaper in the UK (slightly right of centre in its philoshophy) had an article of Friday suggesting that both American political parties were willing to go over the ‘fiscal cliff’ as they both believed that the american public would place more of the blame on the other party. Clearly the threat of the ‘fiscal cliff’ was not working as intended, as it was supposed to be so extreme that it should force both parties to reach a compromise. It would appear that the politicians themselves are more concerned with their own careers than looking after the population they were elected to represent. Hence I propose an alternative solution (a political cliff if you like); if a compromise budget is not acheived by deadline day then a) None of the politicians currently in office are permitted to run for President in the next 10 years; b) There is a re-election of every member of the House of Representives one month later (1st of Feb), with none of the current representatives allowed to stand. With their careers all at risk the politicians might start negotiating with the intent of actually acheiving a compromise!yoursMike

In the 1st post by PianoGuy24 he lays blame on Obama for the failure of the farm bill not getting passed. The Senate passed it months ago & is now awaiting action from the House. So far Boehner hasn’t brought it forward for a vote yet & is holding it hostage. Obviously the blame lays at the feet of Boehner not Obama who’s ready to sign the bill.

‘Toon, shouldn’t have bought an umbrella from Norquist. The “Farm Bill” also includes subsidies for corn grown for ethanol, and tobacco. Do the righties now crying about the potential cost of milk realize that price was down because of their taxes? Also, most all that subsidy money goes to corporations like Con Agra, Cargill and Monsanto, not the “mom and pop” operations they keep claiming.

Farm subsidies should have ended four decades ago, actually, because in case you didn’t know it, that is what keeps the price UP on products made with “farm products”.

D PB…are you a teacher? I feel like I’m getting a reading assignment for New Years. ;)However, I always aced my reading assignments back in 70s.I appreciate links to objective and informative sites. I use wiki myself, but it’s always nice to find additional sources and wiki is sometimes manipulated.BTW, if one counts on Wikipedia to a point of worshipful dependency, does that make one a Wikkan?Flag me….Flag me before I pun again.I appreciate the link and will read it as soon as I recover and clean up from tonight. I will be making Injera bread for the first time in my life along with the foods one places upon the bread. Not something we did down in Southern Mississippi, but Santa bought me a baking stone for Christmas so I can try to duplicate the wonderful food we had at an Ethiopian Restaurant in DC.Happy New Year and be safe.I look forward to your comments in 2013.Sincerely, but with some seasonal silliness included,C.
