A retired cop I hired to do some handyman work for me, and then he asked me out to dinner…. Turned out to be completely self-absorbed, and told me he was actually born to be a stand-up comic…. He’d say something lame and then tell me more than once just how funny it was…. “Oh wow, just listen to me…. hahaha”followed by “Didja see what I did there?”
Didn’t get jokes at all…sarcasm and facetiousness went right over his head.

On the last panel, that sounds about right — the snow will DO the muffling at that point (though this may not be Trout’s idea).
