Freedom for citizens to challenge their elected representatives to create sane gun regulations.

Freedom is the ability to go anywhere in the country and not expect that our kids will die in their elementary school, in a movie theatre, or playing in their neighborhood. Guns kill; it’s that simple.

As long as Congress refuses to fund any program for the treatment of the mentally ill, these things are possible. If guns were removed, a mentally ill person could use knives, as happed in China a few days before the Newton tragedy.

So Harley’s arguement seems to be that a ban on assult rifles would not have stopped an 18-year old from taking his mother’s legally-puchased assult rifle.

    Please explain.

No, I am saying that he would have killed far fewer kids if he didn’t have an assult rifle. Huge clips allow more killing more quickly. He shot one of the 6-year olds 11 times, and fired far more than 26 bullets to kill 26 people. He only stopped and shot himself when he realized that the police had arrived. If he had to reload more often, more kids would have escaped. The guy that shot Gabby Gifford had a 30-bullet clip and was stopped when he had to reload.

You may have missed this part: “within the civilian category 11 of the 17 shootings were stopped by unarmed civilians.” But I was curious to see what else could be gleaned from this info, so I used the same data, but analyzed it to see what the average death toll is by weapon type is. Weapon / Average Deaths Per IncidentAutomatic Rifle / 9.5Automatic Pistol / 9.8Rifle or Shotgun / 3Revolver/Non Auto Handgun / 1.8Anecdotally, there were several cases where armed civilians either failed to subdue the shooter or shot bystanders. In most of the cases where civilians armed or unarmed were successful in subduing the shooter, the shooter was not armed with an automatic weapon, or the gun jammed. I think it’s obvious that the lack of automatic weapons gives a greater opportunity for civilians to intervene or flee.

Yeah, the coward that stopped another mass shooting, and more recently the coward that stopped an armed robber. Amazing that you have no connection with what’s happening in the news.

@mdavis speaking of liars look in the mirrornightline, tonite (you watch it on the internet) followed a student who had been shot by an ak15 a few years ago. still had 3 of the bullets in him from the shooting. he went to multiple gun shows and bought the same guns he was shot with, plut many other “semi”-automatic weapons (i’ll just call them assault weapons for short) with no problemthe sellers in each case said they needed to see his license – he said he had none, and they said they had to collect the tax. every one of them, when he couldn’t produce ID said, Let’s step outside. what happened outside? he was able to purchase these assault weapons, anonomously for 400-600 bux. there goes the credibility of your statements.

the one you forgot was ‘freedom from government control’. Oh yeah, my mistake…you don’t believe that because most liberals like to act like they are for the good of the people but really they are for the nanny state.
