Yes, making sure guns have more rights than people, kinda’ like corporations?

They’re starting to get it right, any rifle with a magazine capacity over five, which operates semi-automatically, with a potential firing rate even with “one bullet per trigger pull” over 100 rounds a minute IS an “assault (on common sense) rifle”, and NOT a hunting or target rifle, needed by civilians for any rational purpose.

I AM a gun owner, and see no reason for civilians to have firepower greater than I had as a combat soldier in Viet Nam. The “Bushmaster” has TWICE the magazine capacity of my M-16 btw, and I never fired that 16 on full auto, as it wasn’t needed, even in a firefight. Hitting the enemy is far more important than simply shooting at him, or her.

Tigger: Beer, wine, and even Scotch aren’t directly made to kill people, and drinking responsibly IS a choice more people should make, yes. OUr highway death toll is sad, and now cell phones are becoming more dangerous than drunks, even though hand held are now banned in most states for drivers.

bt: .22 target pistol. single shot shotgun for rabbits, pump shotgun for ducks, geese, clay pigeons, 22.250 for antelope and “varmints”, 30-30 for deer or elk, an old “collector” 1891 Mauser, All above are bolt/lever action or single shot. Have a 5 round .38 revolver “carry weapon”, which I very rarely see the need to carry for “protection”, and was gifted a semi-auto, 8 round magazine/cllip, that can be “protection” but is too bulky and heavy to just tote around for fun, or “defense”.

I have no problem with folks owning guns responsibly, for functional purposes, which, is why i can see absolutely NO legitimate civilian use for a rifle/shotgun that holds more than five rounds, or a pistol that holds more than 12, as most 9 mm semi-autos do. There is absolutely NO excuse for civilians to have high capacity “people killing” guns like MAC 9 or 10, Uzi, AK-47s, or large magazine ARs or “Bushmaster” type weapons that are either purchased in lieu of testosterone, or killing multiple people at close range, because you can’t shoot well enough to do the job with “less”.

It’s good to see ordinary, decent Americans kicking back against the Fundamentalist obsessives. Well done, guys!

Over 100 people die daily from properly prescribed prescription drugs. They mainly go unnoticed because they’re deaths are not dramatic and all in one place.

If we’re gonna insist on owning these killing machines, then we need to be held responsible for making sure they do not get into the hands of the mentally ill.
