Good morning, Vagabonds. It wasn’t until 5 PM that I got my hour of treading in the pool. I still have to start packing for next Tuesday.
The Krim (or Crimean) Tatar author sent me a nice thank you message for correcting his work. he lives in Contanta, Romania where a lot of Krim Tatars, descendants of the Golden Horde live.
Now that I’ve become a proofreader, I have to doublecheck what I write before sending it. I guess typos are OK – I notice lots of people in GoComics are writing “too” as “to.”
I still don’t know if it’s treading or tredding – I should look it up in my dictionary just a 2-foot reach from my laptop. My guess is the 1st choice.
Morning, Village.I use Wiktionary. It’s done by the same people who do Wikipedia. I keep it bookmarked. Consequently, hard-bound dictionaries have fallen into disuse just like encyclopedias. And the word you want is “tread.”
I, too notice the lack of correct language. Of course, I am no example of correct usage, but, sometimes things just stand out. Can anyone tell me when it became correct to use “ones” instead of the correct noun? Such as: “Let me have these ones for breakfast”. I see this all the time……even on the newscasts. Just drives me crazy!
1939-Jimmy Stuart, Claude Rains, Jean Arthur, Thomas Mitchell-Directed by Frank Capra-Score by Dimitri Tiomkin-A young man is appointed to fill out a Senate term. He goes up against the “machine”. He controls the situation with a Filibuster……..
Hello e-friends. nah, forget that..Good afternoon Vagabonds..It is a snowy day today, it’s coming down pritty good now. Hope it’s just a clipper..When watching “Ghost Hunters” in the earlier seasons I noticed when they were talking they might say “Me and Name” in stead of “Name and I”. I think maybe the gammar police gave’em a call, they don’t do that anymore..Well that’s my two cents. ;-).I concur with SWEETBILL, “MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON”.ttfn
Hi again,Glad to see we have some movie fans here. :)))
We’ve been recording some movies on the DVR and watching whenever the mood hits. Just recently we’ve watched a whole bunch of “dogs”! They sounded good with the “star” line-up, but there was no script, lousy acting, and a real waste of time. We started one of the Matt Helm movies, since I just love Dean Martin, and got about 20 minutes into it, and watched something else! Just awful. Someone has a book out about the 50 Worst Films of All Time……well, we just watched or started to watch about 20 of them!

A typo above: It’s Constanta, Romania, not Contana.

David is right, Arye. Use the “a”, not the “double d”.
Good morning, Vagabonds.
We didn’t quite make it down to freezing last night, and the highs are supposed to be around 55. A warming trend!!
Slim, I miss your stories. When will you favor us with more?

Agreed, Slim, where are your stories?
