Personally I’m having a hard time with Dr. Canuck’s story. I’ve never met anyone who drained and saved the blood (it would be a difficult chore) and those target deer are fairly solid (so they don’t fall over on the first hit). But hey, who am I to interrupt a good urban myth.
As for the picture. So you either love children or guns? There are no gun owning parents who love their children? Oh and I’m a liberal gun-owner, so could we please quit using “liberal” as a swear word? Use “progressive” or “left wing” it’s much more accurate.
The problem isn’t grasping revolvers, or bolt action rifles or legitimate hunting or sporting clay shotguns, but the worshipping and protecting of large magazine capacity rifles, semi-auto pistols, and even “streetsweeper” shotguns with drum magazines.
Legitimate gun owners, hunters, target shooters, and “sportsmen”, have no problem with banning these super-deadly weapons that only belong in combat, whether war, or in the hands of police being shot at by “bad guys”.
BTW, that well-regulated militia with “arms” (it doesn’t say “guns”!) is to defend the nation and citizen against invaders or hostiles, more like JBS and TEA party types, than “the government”. The founding fathers saw the ballot box, NOT armed insurrection, as the way to deal with government, meaning THE PEOPLE, getting too “uppity”.
A bit of a gender stereotyping going on here. Lots of fathers would be hugging their children and, as Dredpiraterobt$ noted, it was Nancy Lanza who was the gun fan.
To rightisright , I’d point out that dividing people simply and categorically into “good guys” and “bad guys” is a practice that should end sometime in middle school. “Good guys” sometimes experience psychological difficulties, sometimes get enraged, sometimes have bad aim, sometimes fail to lock up their firearms, sometimes have a relative with mental problems, sometimes misunderstand what’s going on in a situation.
And, to Tigger: I’ve really heard no advocacy from leading “liberals” that we should ban the manufacture and sale of all firearms. I know some people advocate that. But there is absolutely no serious political movement among liberal/progressive leaders to ban all firearms. You can put that boogeyman back in the closet. What is being advocated is banning high-capacity magazines and semi-automatic weapons.
For those who believe that any restrictions on the type of arms that can be privately owned constitute a violation of the 2nd Amendment: where is the outrage against the restrictions on ownership of RPGs, machine guns, and, for that matter (since the 2nd Amendment just says “arms”), biological and nuclear arms? Why aren’t these unconstitutional restrictions on our right to “keep and bear arms”? If they are, let’s have the NRA take a stand in favor of the right to own all of these arms privately. If they’re not, then why can’t the right to bear arms be restricted in the ways that are now being discussed?
Typical smokescreen. The fact is alcohol and guns have legitimate purposes, AND can be used in illegitimate ways. However, I challenge you to identify a legitimate use of a 100 round magazine for a civilian gun.
@Tigger Christopher Robin would be disappointed with your inability to see some of the very simple things that could be done to make this level of death much more unlikely. Could have sworn I saw a few Tiggers in one of the piles of stuffed animals left in memory of the slain.Christopher Robin was about the age of those children when the Pooh books were written.Sadly,C.

Most guys look at guys as a phallic substitute. True or false? Answer is obvious, isn’t it?

This is an excellent, concise analysis in a simple cartoon that speaks volumes. Clay Bennett is a superb conceptual artist, a genius.

Fully automatic weapons are already extremely regulated… Where’s the outrage over them? Wy stop there? Why not let people buy rocket launchers?
