Ouch! Good cartoon. There are plenty of commenters here who love their guns more than they love their children.

And that 1% are ones who were banned from most gun ranges and kicked out of the NRA.

As opposed to the nutcases called liberals who passed laws in some states that require people to seek shelter in a safe room of flee their homes if someone breaks in and tries to rob the place or kill the family?

@arrodneytyour statement is probably not true and it is inflamatory. more accurate would be to say:‘they love their guns more than they love other peoples children’

Funny how many opponents to sane gun laws automatically assume control means to take away all guns. No one is suggesting that.I grew up in a household of gun owners. Some of my closest friends are avid hunters. I’m all for responsible, law abiding citizens owning a hand gun or hunting rifle, but there is absolutely no sane reason the average citizen needs the kind of guns used in most of these mass shootings. It’s insane. Cut the bull s**t and lets do something sane and meaningful for a change.I also advocate a law requiring any registered gun owner who fails to report a stolen gun be charged as an accessory before the fact in any crime in which their stolen gun was used in.

masterskrain: You are an optimist; the harmless gun nut contingent is more likely between 50 and 60%. The leadership only wants to overthrow the Constitution and go to a military dictatorship. I encountered the leaders back in the ‘60s, recruiting in the Boy Scouts’ adult leaders, to participate in their plan of door to door genocide if the Dallas ghetto had erupted. Their slogan was “and best of all, those commies in Washington are providing the ammunition!” (the American Marksman program of the Nazi Revolutionary Army and Pentagon), the ammo being hoarded for their violent overthrow. The “harmless gun nuts” will provide pressure on politicians now and cannon fodder come the revolution.

I should have mentioned that Walmart has pulled assault rifles, too.

I’m a firearm owner. I don’t care about the NRA and personally, banning assault weapons is the right thingto do as far as I am concern.

Ima: I can’t get ammunition for my guns now. I have to create the load in the barrel – powder, patch, bullet – and the primer in the pan, each time I shoot. And when I fire, there is a big cloud of smoke to let people know where I am. Then it takes a half minute to do it again. I have original intent second amendment guns. But they hunt just as well as the semi-machineguns “sportsmen” require.

When I was young, a kid I knew accidentally shot and killed himself while cleaning a gun. Several friends of mine were killed in Vietnam, and several more were wounded. But here’s another view — I’ve mentioned this story before — my mother (when she was in her fifties) was raped and knifed and left for dead, but she lived through it. The rapist also had a gun. If he had shot her I doubt that she would have lived.
