The only difference is that you will have that punk Eric Swalwell in there instead of Fortney “Pete” Stark for California District 15, but other than that, nothing else really changed.
We the People, of the United States of America, in order to form a more perfect union….Need to elect honorable, ethical, and intelligent minds to serve as our legislators.Sadly, the first dis-qualifier for elected office is wanting the job.My compliments to commentators who addressed how politics have become a job rather than an opportunity to create a more perfect union.Respectfully,C.
Morty, you can tell from this forum that there’s a sharp divide on what we should expect from government. I’d also say it’s obvious that the conservatives are a little detached from the realities that face the lower end of the working class. They clearly don’t put any value in the idea of listening to or thinking about other opinions.Term limits sound like a good idea. We would lose some capable Representatives, but I think it would help remove a lot of the Reps that have been in office far past their expiration dates.Campaign finance reform would help even more. I’d like to see a ban on all contributions other than from actual registered voters & no millionaires funding their own campaigns. No PACs, no union or corporate money. Stricter rules on lobbying would be even better.
Term limits don’t work. In Ohio we have even more job shifting than ever, and those who do get out take knowledge with them. With one or two exceptions, the Ohio legislature is run by staff who glom on to the “elected” replacement, and by lobbyists who “guide” these newbies in the ways of the world. There is little to no institutional memory, and this allows extreme partisans to demagogue the issues and ignore common sense legislation. The worst case of job shifting was a state senator(I forget who), who was term limited, went to the house, was term limited, then went back to, and retired from the senate. The populace needs to understand that we already have term limits: they’re called elections!
Why must you always be making hateful remarks about the president of the US?
To my knowledge (even though I might imagine he would want to) he makes no such remarks about you.
As a relative moderate I never made such remarks about GW Bush. Although I certainly disagreed with at least some of his policies.
Disagree with the policies (and at least try to be specific and factual) of the current president if you wish. But do try to at least exhibit some decorum and even respect for the office of the president of the US.
As you seem to claim to be a Christian, remember, Christ himself stated that all we should ever say about anything is a simple yes or no!!

And yet it still beats theocracy. McConnell, odious as he is, beats Morsi. It could be worse!

Morty: Why would term limits help? They are just a device to get rid of the occasional honest one, they can always buy a replacement for their kind.

Here’s an idea – If congress doesn’t balance the budget they cannot run for reelection. None of them.

Great idea Rickopololis, I am very surprised that so many of the same members of the house were re-elected!Their ratings were at an all time low!
