YOU spell it, Lucy! And while you’re at it, try “antidisestablishmentarianism” and “sesquipedalian.”

Definition of Lucy’s word in the final panel? (To play along, legaleagle48, let’s see if she can spell Mary Poppins’ word.)

One time in elementary school, I was the last person standing for the class spelling bee. I thought I had it nailed: the word was “Christmas”. I forgot to say “Capital” before “C”.

When I was a kid, we were all “entered” in the Spelling Bee. Everyone gave it a go in class. The class champ would then go against the other classes’ champs, then on up the chain.

There was a Peanuts cartoon special with Charlie Brown in a spellin bee championship. Linus gave him his blanket for good luck. But as luck would have it, Charlie Brown spelled beagle as beagel. Rats. :(

for what it is worth…a·ce·tyl·cho·lin·es·ter·ase [ə st’l kōlən éstə rayss, ə st’l kōlən éstə ràyz] n enzyme: an enzyme, present in blood and some nerve endings, that aids the breakdown of acetylcholine and suppresses its stimulatory effect on nerves.

Note: Something that Charlie Brown could use a lot of when dealing with Lucy.
