Wow! Narrowly avoided landing in hot charcoal!

Chet, also doesn’t believe in making a leap of faith. He’d rather fate cause his fall from grace and toss him into the burning charcoals of Hell. Chet is a strong believer in metaphor !

Wait a minute…..Superfrog hopped in ahead of me…. but he wasn’t here during my first couple of posts….

I saw the Linguist’s post, too, before I saw his.

Time is so elastic on Ballard St.On all the comics, but we hang out later here and an diferent times of day.For some it’s almost bedtime now; others are getting up.The Tiki Bar can never close cos it’s always Happy Hour some place.

We have to have special laws in Ballard County to allow that….can’t say bars must close at 2am when it’s never 2 am everywhere at once.

OH! I meant to answer you yesterday…. sorry….No! I would never use more than the recommended amounts of glitter. It’s only the x_Tech Industries Industrial Strength glitter that causes any problems, anyway…Some of yours is that, but some is x_Tech Industries Magical Moon ColorChange glitter, which never transparentizes… so accidental overuse is more easily guarded against. And in any case, I am a Certified Glitter Technician, and I am very careful!

I guess you’ll have to blame it on…. well… you know.

Aw, thanks Red….Actually after mixing daiquiris for so long, I’ve usually had it…but a bit of something not so sweet actually sounds good right now…

A small single malt, or even some brandy.Whatever you’re drinking is fine… but neat, of course.

X — is that actually bigger than the giant grinder the Monkey bought in August?Unless he wants something other than banana (yeah right) in giant quantities, I’d think this one is enough

(but then again, what do I know…. maybe he’s inviting all the monkeys in Turdmunkestan for Christmas.)

If you want to see a wee bit of Scotland to go with your Scotch, you can come and hunt the wild haggis with me…My sister and I do this every winter, though not as avidly as we used to.The webcams we liked best, especially the harbor in Oban, were removed, and the sites became more and more urban. This year they once again have cams in beautiful places.

I thought he same thing when I saw Chet’s set-up….though the coals are a bit wider than the plank, and here are a few outlying ones.

I thought the person most in danger, though, was me, leaping in sideways, as I was, from yesterday.

Morn’n all ! Hope everyone got the required amount of sleep.Today, being Monday, and me having a big ham bone and lots of ham, it’s Red Beans and Rice and Cornbread !I’m headed to the little neighborhood produce market to pick some peppers , onion, and fresh celery ( I always keep plenty of garlic on hand ). The beans have soaked over night and are ready to go….so….I’ll be seeing y’all this afternoon at the Tiki with a big ole pot full , along with plenty of rice and homemade cornbread.

Redkaycei Repoc, looks like a 2×4 which is more of a beam than a plank. But then Chet certainly doesn’t appear to be beaming. Considering Chet’s ample-tude, I think there’s plenty of risk of breaking on through to the other side (the hot coals),

O.K. Ballardeers ! Red Beans & Rice with cornbread for all !I recommend an ice cold IPA ( India Pale Ale ) to wash it all down. It’s a little hot but for those of you who like it even hotter, I brought a big bottle of Glady’s Hot Sauce from Glady’s Cafe in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Well worth searching for .Bon appétit !

This is not quite the way I make RB&R ( I prefer to soak the beans overnight, rinse and toss in the slow cooker with everything else and cook covered on low for about 9 hrs. in about 8 cups of water, then 1 hour on high, uncovered to reduce liquid and thicken to creamy texture ) but the ingredients are pretty much the same:3-4 garlic cloves chopped3 or 4 chopped jalapenos1/4 cup chopped green peppersTony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning or salt & pepper to tasteCayenne pepper to taste 1/4 cup vegetable oil ( omit if using slow cooker )1 lb. dried red beans1 lb, Diced ham ( ham hock is optional but great if you have )1/2 lb Andoulle sausage browned and sliced in 1" rings ( optional )1 Large chopped onion1 cup chopped Bell pepper1/2 cup chopped celery.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.>>>.Soak beans in pot of water for an hour. Wash beans, add fresh water to cover beans and bring to boil. Let beans boil for a half hour, then add ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer for 3 hrs. Add water as needed to make a creamy consistency. Serve over hot rice.

    Oh hi, Linguist!

    Thank you!

I’ll set out some bowls before I leave again.

And I guess some big spoons and extra napkins.

Has anybody seen Stel? Are you OK, Stelbel?I saved you a booth in the back so you’d be comfortable…

    Essex, I didn’t say I wouldn’t walk with Andy, I said I couldn’t.There’s a difference, you know.

And I think Andy might find me a little…um… mature.

And Bev….Aw…. I think he’s just one of the litter that Mabel Schnabel’s dog had in October…we have all sorts of unusual dogs on Ballard St, you know.

Essex and Linguist, sounds very interesting. I LIVE in AZ and there is NO place in the Phoenix area that carries it. Before 911 I carried a couple of bottles back from business trips in MX along with bottles of Kalua and Presidente. It was just a hassle to carry the weight but they all arrived safely back in Chicago (I used to work for Zenith corp for almost 10 years). Rumors of selling to a foreign company made me look elsewhere (as a single homeowner and mom of 4 teens). I found work at a consulting firm near my home and spent almost 10 years there before moving here in 98. I’m 75 this year (so I can at least keep my shoes on ;-P
