The ice caps are increasing in size. And have been for a few years running. We are going into another cooling cycle.

Who needs scientist’s who specialize in earth and its atmosphere when you can learn “all you need to know” from your fellow poster.

Bull. There were a few moronic magazine articles that were the usual airhead science reporting we have come to expect from the media. It was NOT bitter cold, and most scientists thought the ice age predictions were BS. Don’t believe everything people tell you just because it conforms to your beliefs.

The estimate I have heard most often is sea level rise of 3 feet by 2100.

The CEO of ExxonMobil has said that man-made climate change is real and we have to adapt.Exxon has cut funding to several think-tanks and other groups that “challenged the need to curb greenhouse gas emissions”.The World Bank — an entity committed to free market capitalism — has weighed in on the threat of climate change and the urgency of acting. The World Bank says we face “unprecedented heat waves, severe drought, and major floods in many regions, with serious impacts on human systems, ecosystems, and associated services”.‘Deniers’ are losing their last friends.

I bought an ice cap once, wolfhound. I found out I couldn’t wear it without it melting.

Tigger and Ima are still wallowing around in their little swamps of misinformation, superstition and knee jerk reactionary conservatism. I’m glad,! They give me a good laugh. Their simple-minded type is dying out and its good to know that there are some that will hold onto it until death. Keep up the good work boys!!! Don’t ever grow up! And Thanks, really!

Rather than trying to explain AGAIN (1) why AGW is real and (2) how the Ice Age predictions of the 1970s are both accurate and an indicator of warming today and (3) the Arctic and Antarctic are both losing ice overall, I’ll leave it to the National Center for Science Education: http://ncse.com/climateFor those into the hard-core research and data from a leading researcher: www.realclimate.org

Don’t pretend to be more ignorant than you are. Believing the Biblical age of the Earth as 6,000 years is not a liberal myth; it is a very real phenomenon called “Young Earth Creationism,” and many of the evolution deniers accept it.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_earth_creationismFurthermore, Don McLeroy, the Rick-Perry-appointed former head of the Texas Board of Education (which has a disproportionate power over ALL textbooks in this country, since they are such a large market) tried to eliminate evolution from textbooks because he is a Young Earth creationist himself.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_McLeroy

Tigger: The ice age predictions came from dendrochronology. The natural cycles you petroapologists keep mentioning would have indicated a cooling (not ice age) starting around 1970. Sensationalist journalists magnified it to an ice age. Human intervention (global warming from industrial gases) prevented that from happening and made the warming continue./.

Motivemagnus: You are behind the times. I know because I filed against McLeroy in District 9 in 2010, expecting to get only1200-1300 votes, but to raise the issues. However, Thomas Ratliff, a reasonably rational man despite his party, defeated McLeroy in the primary and a near-total media blackout of my candidacy, including the Dallas News claiming only he and a Libertarian were running, kept the issues quiet. Still, I got 7,411 votes, I suspect mainly from Democrats who don’t even care enough to run. Greens are now the only alternative.

“… The oceans will rise by many meters (yards)..” MAYBE. Global Warmers were caught changing the historical data in the ‘shore-line’ records so their theories could be based on ‘fact and trends’. Every place that got flooded by Sandy should already be permanently under water if global warming was true.

“… how 350 million people are going to live in this new environment…” While you are planning, allow for the ‘Cold Snap’ that shows up in the Greenland Ice Cores. The frequency of past ‘chills’ indicates we will have another one soon- only a 10 degree global drop. But, the land North of I-80 will never thaw for 100 years.

Ima, you CLEARLY don’t know what you are talking about, and every post reinforces that. Perhaps you don’t care? Do you like mindlessly repeating whatever you have been told? Or are you just a spambot?I quoted an actual Young Earther, and you simply repeat your ridiculous claim that only liberals say that. No, not at all. You miss the point on predictions — and by the way, Al Gore is not a scientist. The actual scientists on the IPCC have in fact been CONSERVATIVE in every single prediction. The reality is that AGW is happening faster than they predicted — a lot faster. And informed people are really worried about that.

I also enjoy C Downs — who has a lovely spirit — and Radish and Donald Williams, and many others. I’m fascinated to read posts by the conservatives, as well — some of them aren’t really conservatives — conservatism is a respectable perspective — they are people who are working out their problems with anger and bitterness. And so are some of the cartoonists. But then there are some great cartoonists — Toles, and Danziger and Sargent and Clay Bennet and Kallauger and Oliphant.
