I’d like an elephant ear sandwich, if you’ve got any of those big buns left.

Some of us are in danger of getting too cocky. There is a lot to do to get the country back up, event to where it was in 2000. This election did no more than stop us from diving further under.

I hope this does not really mean the practical end of a viable and vigorous two-party system. Without this vital element in our politics, oligarchy would surely follow (or maybe we’re already there)…an’ dictatorship shortly after that…’Eliminating the loyal opposition is a definitive step towards dictatorship.LIberals have every right to celebrate their victories in the elections of 2012. The responsible, accountable and honorable conservative movement will not die, however. The best way for our republic to be responsive to the collective needs of We, The People is for differing points and positions of government policy to be openly debated and allowing the voters to decide what path is their preference. In terms of votes cast (forget the Electoral College for the moment) this was a close election, suggesting that for just about every vote to re-elect Obama, there was a corresponding vote for Romney-Ryan. This clearly means that nearly – very nearly – HALF of the electorate were voting for leadership other than the Obama Administration.

Regarding MSM “media bias” . . . this is a subjective issue, it’s difficult to accurately quantify, and it’s common for any of us to perceive ‘bias’.Here’s an article pointing out a few examples on CNN – some of which appeared as “pro-liberal” and some as “pro-conservative”, depending on the partisan viewpoint.

“How did Fox and Limbaugh cause Republicans to lose the election? That’s just silly, and it is merely a Leftist talking point.”No. One example. In February Rush said something to the effect that women who use birth control are sluts. Naturally there was a tempest of criticism. Rush doubled down a few days later saying something about women wanting free birth control so they can have sex all day. Well, Rush is an entertainer, playing to a niche audience. He’s accountable to no one but the Arbitron ratings. But here’s my point: NO Republican politician – including Romney – denounced or even distanced themselves from Rush’s ramble. Obviously they feared offending the ‘Limbaugh base’.But they paid a price for this. In the election, Republicans lost women with children by 56 to 43 percent, and lost unmarried women by 67 to 31 percent! (Bush in 2004 lost women by only 3 points).Republicans simply cannot win elections by offending half of the electorate!

lol, lol. Well, your devotion to Rush is obviously intense.I’m sorry you felt you had to write such a long post, especially since it’s a waste of time. As far as I’m concerned, Rush is a loud-mouthed heroin addict. But my opinion . . . does not matter at all. And for that matter, neither does yours. The point is, what is the opinion of women voters?I agree with you on this: it’s not solely Rush. It’s the whole Republican party. Constant policy attacks on reproductive rights, on contraception, on women’s health, and communicating an attitude that women should just get back to being nice docile housewives. You yourself conveyed this: ‘it did sound like she was, well, let’s just say ’not in a committed relationship.’ I remember thinking at the time when I heard her talking, that this girl was not ‘the girl next door’.”Lol! That’s a great message to women – in 1950! I was trying to give some advice on how Republicans might start to win back alienated voters, but I’m thinking it’s hopeless.

“you are incorrect that he “doubled down” a few days later”He doubled down the next day with this:“So Miss Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.”-Rush Limbaugh, March 1, 2012

lol, lol! You just don’t get it! It doesn’t matter how fervently you defend Rush and Fox. It doesn’t matter how much you attack me. It doesn’t MATTER what I think. It doesn’t matter what YOU think! In the 2012 election, Republicans lost women-with-children by 56 to 43 percent, and lost unmarried women by 67 to 31 percent. (Bush in 2004 lost women by only 3 points).Today’s Republican ‘message’ is not winning women voters.

I never read “daily kos or the DUMB (DemocraticUndergroundMessageBoard.” I haven’t seen Mahr in 5 years or so. Doesn’t matter. They don’t represent the Democratic Party. When they write or say something offensive, apparently few people associate them with the political leadership of the Democratic Party. However, Fox and Rush ARE the Republican Party. Republican presidential candidates and Republican political fundraising operatives are actually paid employees on Fox. I’m still waiting for any Republican politician to disavow something Rush has said.Since my opinion has no credibility with you, here’s someone else’s opinion on why Fox is harming the Republican brand:http://www.businessinsider.com/fox-news-is-killing-the-republican-party-2012-11Here’s Fox’s Murdoch and Ailes “nominating” General Petreus to be Republican president:http://rt.com/usa/news/petraeus-fox-news-president-264/Here’s Newt Gingrich last Sunday on TV:“every Republican should be focused on what we just talked about. I mean, if their competitor in ‘16 is going to be Hillary Clinton, supported by Bill Clinton and presumably a still relatively popular president Barack Obama, trying to win that will be truly the Super Bowl. And the Republican Party today is incapable of competing at that level. And it’s part of this cultural thing with our consultants. I mean, if you start out thinking giving away 47 percent of the country, by the way, which included retirees, it included veterans. You know, it was an absurdity. And— and I think this is— this is much more than Mitt Romney. We didn’t blow it because of Mitt Romney. We blew it because of a party which has refused to engage the reality of American life and refused to take— to think through what the average American needs for a better future.”

“Let me see your source. And are you trying to tell me you know why women voted for Obama? Good grief.”Source?? Source for what? Source for the fact that Republicans lost the women’s vote? (And the youth vote, the Latino vote, Asian-American vote, etc.?) Do you also need “a source” from me that’s it’s December?Again, you’re not getting it. I’m a white, 50-year old male. I don’t know WHY women voted for Obama. If, however, Republicans ever want to win the women’s vote, they better find the answer.

“I see your sources but they are just other people’s opinions”I state my opinions and you say that I “have that class envy thing going on”, that I am “a very judgmental person” and ask me to “don’t go all superior here”.OK. So I post OTHER peoples opinions, and then you say I’m using “other people’s opinions . . . copy and paste sources that agree”.Fine. Ignore advice. Keep losing elections.

“Bill Mahr does represent the Democrat Party. That’s what he does in his show – it’s a continual campaign for Democrats”Based on the results of the election, whether this is true or not doesn’t matter. For the record, I usually vote third-party for president, in the vain hope of encouraging a multiparty system in the US. I see this as necessary for true representation in the 21st century. But instead I see the opposite. The Republicans are imploding into their own self-justified ideology. And so we’re apparently moving to a one party state.
