Perhaps you wax satirical, but just in case:

Predators are important also. Deer in Virginia are overpopulated and increasingly disease ridden, thanks to lack of natural predators. (Suburbanites don’t like wolves.) The movie “Never Cry Wolf” gives a romanticized, but basically informative picture based on a true story of reindeer in Canada.

“……I say kill the killer ones ie: shark, ‘gators, crocodiles, different kinds of bears, except maybe the Panda, any lion that’s big enough to be a hazard to us, tigers… you get the idea. They do an annual rattlesnake roundup in Texas to keep the numbers down.”____________________________________

I beg to differ; Most, if not all, of the animals were here before we human animals were. And if you mean “the killer ones,” you must include humans, as well. Matter of fact, the planet would be in much better shape if all humans disappeared.(and if the rattlesnake doesn’t threaten you, you have no right to kill it.) Yours is the kind of thinking that creates countries that are eternally at war with each other — each feels threatened by the other.

    Peace, man.

We need the predators to keep their prey in check. Deer are very aggressive and do attack humans. And have been behaving that aggressively for a while. Just ask the city of Victoria. Deer are not predators. But they do attack. Should we then get rid of Bambi?

@Timeweaver (and anyone else who is unaware of the difference) – vegans don’t approve of any human use of animals at ALL … not even for dairiy, honey, eggs, wool, companionship, just for the short list. Vegetarians simply don’t eat meat; they do use dairy and honey and often eggs and even seafood.

Also, I have never met a political vegetarian, but the vegan/AR lobby is working hard to impose their ‘morality’ on the rest of us via ‘animal protection’ laws and regulations.

    Just sayin’ …

You neglectyed to mention WE are predators. We own the food chain by killing off the competition. We’re excessive and over populated, so the competition is excessively thinned. I would not like a mountain lion showing up in my back yard. Safety happens to be one option of winning the war.

Since the dinosaur. And over population may have contributed to their dimise as well.
