And if legal spouses can’t be on tour with them, they should accept this as part of the whole career package. .Powerful men have strong appetites, and we should help satisfy them. There’s an attraction to fame and power, and so there are sycophants and groupies. They inevitably come together, sometimes in a physical way. If a person can’t get relief through his or her mate near at hand, or through performing the duties of his profession, chances are he will look for it elsewhere. .Sex should be efficient and easy to attain, business-like, and a powerful, organized person can manage this if he picks discreet partners. But some don’t pick partners logically, or become emotionally attached, or become overconfident and careless. All that hot blood migrates from their super-smart heads to their undisciplined loins..And so people in power need professional assistance in this regard. People are never so hypocritical about anything as about sex. It is a political tool against the Opposition, and the first to obtain the moralizing high ground usually wins. .That’s why in circumstances where legitimate public scrutiny of a person’s life is involved there should be structured go-betweens. But let’s not call them that. The job title might be “Hormonal Facilitator,” and he or she would head the “Department of Sexual Energy.” Workers in that department would work under civil service rules, to retain the proper degree of control and decorum. (I’m sure you in the Go Comics brain trust have additional ideas.).European countries have traditionally had more relaxed, healthy attitudes about this until recent generations, when their practical approaches have been corrupted by U.S. Puritanism. It’s ironic that as public morals have become so much looser, we still hold our people in power to outmoded standards. .It’s not fair! And let the Religious Right squawk – they have as many problems with this as any other group. (And I suspect some celibate clergy possibly have sex more often than the national average.).I realize that the presidential candidates were reluctant to bring this up during the recent campaign. Maybe now is the time to bring this into the open and put useful policy in place. It might not happen in the first one hundred days, or the first one thousand, etc., but let us begin….Having just read what I’ve written above, I’m not really sure if I’m kidding or not.
