Texas is the only state that could actually secede without major changes to the Constitution. These petitions are attention getting devices for people who feel they have been set aside by the elections. The mechanics of secession will prevent it from happening. Many of the states where petitions are being circulated are landlocked and the states would be unable to get to ports in which to import and export goods. And then there’s the less important, but probably a greater concern…who would their sports teams play? Dont answer that last one, it’s really not important.This cartoon, and the secession petitions, underline what has been my continuing rant against disrespect, divisiveness, and my call to write your politicians. I truly believe if our nation works in a sincere bipartisan fashion and if our neighbors become more active in contacting their elected officials at all levels, we can make a much better nation. It won’t be “perfect” for anyone, but it can be really good for everyone with a good spirit and a willingness to work together.Respectfully,C.
how did this get from women leaving the party to states wanting to leave the union( which I do not blame them) The problem with women is that they listen to the left wing reality shows that spout look you are being oppressed when you look at other countries women here have it great. Look colleges have more women than men. more women in office. They get blasted with right to choice. That should happen when they jump in the sack with all the std out there they should have condoms and that would end most of the abortions.
