It certainly would be a pleasure to get one of those. Unfortunately, I’m practical, so my wrapping skills are limited to wrapping paper and occasionally some curling ribbon. But I do write my kids’ names on the paper so that it’s hidden, and they love trying to find that.

With the presents I give, the less expensive the gift, the more fancy wrapping it received. You hope you get a plain one from me with a bow taped on top. Better yet, just thrown in a Christmas bag with tissue.

I used to enjoy curling the ribbons with a scissors. Now they don’t sell those kinds of ribbons anymore in local shops and all you do is plonk a bow on top.

My dad was meticulous and careful about opening his gifts. He carried a pocket knife and used it to slit the tape and then remove the paper and refold it. Only then would he look at what was inside. And if the box was taped shut, out came the pocket knife again. We, too opened gifts one at a time, and it was agonizing watching him. (I miss him so at Christmas time. I wish he were here to pull out that old pocket knife again.)

I use to love wrapping gifts, then I started getting ragged on by my family that I was too neat. Why do I have to do it so neat and pretty if they were just going to rip it apart. I use to say that it was so it was pretty under the tree, and made you think about what I may have gotten you. Then my job volunteers to wrap presents for customers and I jumped at the job. Then I got ragged on for being too slow and too neat. Kinda makes me not want to do it anymore. Still love wrapping, just not worth the hassle anymore.

I wish I could remember/do the wrapping I used to! I’ve been wrapping my gifts lop-sid(d)ed. For some odd reason, I can’t cut straight.

Hi everyone Today is my birthday :-)

It is an art form. There are very few stores that do that anymore. I used to watch them wrap presents and would get good ideas. I’m not great at it, but I’m better than I used to be.

Happy Birthday Mary Rose! My birthday is after Christmas when everyone is sick of gift buying and they are broke. You were smart to come before the big day.

It’s good Elly isn’t old – yesterday I addressed a big cardboard-type envelope at the post office and sealed it, then noticed the calendar that was supposed to be sent. Struggled with the darn (supposed to be daRN) thing awhile, then had to have a postal clerk reopen it. Had offered to buy another envelope for c. $1.08.

I wish I could wrap presents like that. I just buy the gift bags and put lots of tissue paper in them. LOL

Mothers DO make magic!!! Mine did.

My ever-thrifty mom (came through the Great Depression) would save the Sunday comic strips for months before Christmas and use them to wrap larger gifts. It did make nice colorful wrapping paper, and we could read our gifts before opening them!
