What do you mean “return.” We’ve always had control over our televisions. We had the power to mute the volume, change the channel, and to just turn the damn things off to go do something productive for a change.
There were enough people who remember the Bush years and what a disaster they were. Romney did not seperate himself far enough from the neocons who ran the Bush White House to get any swing voters.I’ll make a deal with you – I will vote for a Republican presidential candidate in 2016 IF they seperate themselves from the religious right (I’m not Christian, so their posturing seems more like a threat to me) AND they hang the Tea Party out to dry. That’s not an empty promise – this is the first time in 12 years I didn’t vote for a Republican senator (Angus King, an Independent, got my vote), and in 2000, I actually campaigned for John McCain, and only voted for Gore because of the dirty tactics Bush used to get him out of the primary race.
for FORCROWS: I don’t make “deals” for my vote….but we get what we elect….so all those people without jobs….good luck. The next 4 years ought to be amusing….Dem Pres, Rep House, Dem Senate……hmmmmmm……of course this Pres does whatever HE wants, regardless of the law of the land, so it should be quire interesting.
I watched a marathon of shows on Destination America HD (which used to be Planet Green) that followed two hillbillies living in Appalachia. They made a crossbow out of a truck leaf spring, killed a deer and smoked most of it, sawed down a tree and fixed a sawmill to make boards for a chicken coop, sluiced for gemstones, made knives out of old sawblades, and bartered up from a bag of walnuts to get a chainsaw. I thought it was more entertaining than the election.
Why not, Howie? I’m not a Democrat. I vote for the candidate I feel would be better for the country. The Tea Party does not have the country’s best interest at heart, and I believe a candidate has to have the ability to leave religion out of their platform. At the legislative level, I vote for individuals; for President, I have to take the platform into account. I did not feel Gore was the most qualified in 2000, I felt that was McCain; the Bush platform was too far to the right. If Biden runs, I don’t see myself voting for him, so if the Republicans can get a candidate who can seperate themselves from the wingnuts I will vote for them. I don’t want a President too far to the left, either. I was excited to have a third choice in the senate race here, and he won. Now maybe more states will start having third party senators and representatives to take some power away from the Democrats and Republicans.
