Unfortunately this is too parochial for most of us.

It is a local issue, but the Metro is SO poorly run right now that Toles can’t help himself. And there doesn’t seem to be much improvement on the horizon. For those of you out of the DC area, you may well see more like this.

Toles has done Metro comics 3-4 times in the last several weeks. Not knowing his location, I took this to be DC. I agree that cartoonists have several constituencies, but sometimes the local angle gets lost in translation. God bless and keep the victims of Sandy!I spent several spring breaks and summer vacations with my ex in-laws in Lavalette and Seaside Heights. Looking at the destruction just tears me up.

Since it is Washington, which I surmised, why did the conversation veer into NYC?

You’re right, it’s going to be a while before the subway system in lower Manhattan is working. They will have to bring in a big fleet of buses, and the traffic will be just unbelievable. I like New York and I’ve got a lot of friends in the city. I feel for everyone there.
