In the wake of Katrina, I remember discussing with my Republican friends how this kind of disaster would be handled if it hit New York instead of Louisiana..I was right. Mitt Romney is wrong..People who trust and value their civil servants will pay high taxes for them for times like this. When we’re not in the midst of disaster, we have well paid civil servants and a robust economy (most of the time)..People who think the government is nothing but a useless lump of bureaucracy whose sole purpose should be to pump oil (like Louisiana), will drown their poor and then shoot them when they try to escape the flood.

Do such cartoonists really think this or are they just pandering to politicians?

    What an idiot …

Hey, Luckovich! What is your proof? Oh, you don’t have any … you are just grabbing things out of your libtard ‘hate Republicans’ hat.

Typical libtard … makes up things and calls them facts.

Privatizing disaster relief is the way to go. It’s the only way to ensure that people with the most money get help first.

I would expect more cobwebs on the bucket and mop. Mitt doesn’t want to be immoral and give out any federal disaster aid.

FEMA has its place, but anyone who thinks the federal govt should be anything like a first responder, is too ignorant to be allowed to vote.

Under the Ryan plan, you have to wring the mop out with your hands, can’t buy the wringer.

No you would have to rent the mop at $300 per hour.

Hey Libtards, did you realize that the states used to be in control of natural disasters w/out the bloated federal government and FEMA? Guess what, it worked better! Right now the states send their money (your state money) to the feds where they bank it in times like this. States used to keep that money. The federal government gets bigger and bigger and and does a crappier and crappier job, go figure!

We already see gas shortages, electricity is still off and clean up hasn’t really begun. Most of the efforts have been either local, PRIVATE (ie Home Depot, Walmart etc….) or other states helping out by sending utility crews. The feds are still trying to pull their thumbs out of their whoo haas to mobilize. With Katrina (and who really cares whos in the white house, big government is big government) private industry helped much more than the government. Believe it or not, Romney might be right!!!! (big gasp from the left)

Not only that, but you have to pay a rental fee for the mop and bucket.
