Rose is Rose by Don Wimmer and Pat Brady for November 11, 2012
Transcript:
Jimbo: Rose! What kind of music did you put on this mystery mix CD? Rose: That's the thrill of a mystery mix! You never know what you'll hear! Rose: Indie pop might be followed by raucous country...celtic swing might lead into dance hall cajun! Jimbo: What a great idea, Rose! Jimbo: Hmmm...there could be some east coast blues or 60's surf rock! Rose: I should have warned him...every mystery mix has at least one... Vicki: Bombastic guitar anthem!

I did a “mystery mix” cassette (back in the day) for a friend once. He totally trusted me (mistake), and said that I could put whatever I thought he would like, with the only stipulation being that it was all female artists. He liked Rock…just Rock. No pop. No country. You get the idea. I gave him the cassette, and told him to listen before reading the label. He loved every song on it, and only didn’t know 2. It drove him nutz not knowing who those two rockin’ ladies were, until i told him: Olivia Newton-John (“Twist of Fate”) and Debby Boone (“Choose Life”)!!!

Vicki, I’d dance with you to “Born to be Wild”, and then we’d dance a little more!

Parents did a mystery mix cassette for a friend of theirs: nothing but “Tomorrow” from Annie in all its screechy goodness, the one song he despised in the universe. He still hates the song but eventually forgave my parents.

I only like mixes of similar music. That way I can play what I’m in the mood for. My lover has a newer player piano that is totally digital. Back in the day I helped him with one that had a solenoid under every key and some pedals; that was a week-long project ;-D – but still lots of fun!

From the looks of it, he had the sound all the way up in the car to be blasted back like that. Which also means he’s a rude driver who blasts his radio to the annoyance of other drivers.

I used to listen to the radio before my tinnitus got so bad it all sounds horrid. After that I still listened to news and talk radio a bit. Then my husband bought this brand new fancy radio for our old Pontiac. Its got soooo darn many buttons bells and whistle I can’t figure out how to turn the darn thing on!
