Nope, Zoid, you called it wrong. Republicans will unfairly blame this on Obama, but Obama won’t blame it on Bush. THere’s plenty of blame for the GOP congress (who hold the purse strings and cut the state departments request for money, directly lowering security), but you’ll notice that Clinton took the responsibility on her own shoulders. Obama does not run the state department.
Today on Townhall.com….Katie Pavlich 10/15/12 article reports that House Chairman Issa has revealed that the State Dept. is sitting on a $2 Billion fund for consulate security but refuses to spend money on increasing security in Libya or Egypt.-The Democrats have claimed that the GOP “cut $30 million” so they could not afford to send extra security forces.-There is a weekend report that Benghazi lacked security despite pleadings from officials on the ground….at the same time, DOS was spending money to install charging stations for staff Chevy Volts at the US Embassy in VIENNA…… (which the Obama administration is buying to keep Chevy from bankruptcy)….!!!
Thousands have demonstrated in Libya, in support of the U.S. and as apology for what happened to our Ambassador. Amazing how little emphasis this has received in that “overtly liberal media”. Instead, we get hours of right-wing twits being gas bags. BTW, conservatives also want to distract from the fact that while slower than hoped, the economy IS making a recovery. Just check the stock market out, even if “sour grape” Welch wants to detract from the numbers with phony claims.
There is a fairly wide line between giving an organization so much time to evaluate a disaster it fades in public minds, and focusing so much attention on it that reporters want to know at what time investigators ate dinner.In that space between extremes is a set of protocols that too many disasters have made commonplace to national security professionals.When stories were leaked about the Bin Laden raid, Obama was accused of leaking it for political gain. When Obama didn’t provide instant answers on the Benghazi raid, he was accused of suppressing info for political gain.Ambassador Stevens died in the name of The United States of America trying to bring peace and quality of life to the people of Libya. Those people grieved and carried signs apologizing to Americans for this crime. Some have died in the time since attacking compounds of extremists to avenge and give justice for Steven’s death.We do not honor Stevens and his men’s sacrifices by politicizing the event UNLESS we also PASS THE BILL that will improve security for the rest of the buildings representing US soil and citizens abroad. Poor old deer-in-the-headlights Mitt must have believed his own talking points because he was dismayed that Obama had referred the next morning in the Rose Garden to Benghazi as a terrorist act. That would be called being hit by friendly fire.
…….What did Obama say in the Rose Garden a day after the attack in Libya? ”No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this nation,” he said…..Of course in a desperate attempt to rescue poor old Mitt, the right are heroically spinning that Obama was not talking about Benghazi specifically. .Okay, you’re going down the street on a nice sunny day and you remark to a friend, “the weather’s nice”. Ninety-nine out of a hundred people would think you are referring to the prevailing atmospheric conditions in the current location, and the hundredth person is a misguided Republican who thinks you are talking about the possibility of a volcanic eruption in Toledo.
