Support democracy as long as you vote for the person we want? Egypt was an ally, now, even the current President has downgraded the relationship. However, we can not promise people we’re going to help them create a democracy if we dictate the conditions. Doing such things in the past, and worse, has not been to our benefit or sadly, theirs. To deserve respect, one must show respect. Even to people with whom we disagree.Respectfully,C.
Giving money is only one way to help. Setting an example is the best way. We’re not doing as well as we once did. Don’t give them money to do their elections but sending observers is not for them as it is for us. Our vote watchers overseas can tell us how valid a new government is. Egypt got high marks for its elections, but low marks for how the military responded to the Moslem Brotherhood candidate. As I am neither Egyptian or moslem, i only know what I’ve read and the two interviews of Morsi himself. Sounds good, but a lot of politicians sound good. We’ll know more in a few more months.C.

The cartoon doesn’t show the stick up his a** that the Islamic Brotherhood is sticking in there. That’s the change.
