Mine also come when the dinner dishes clink. Or the feed bag crumples. Or it’s an hour to feed time. Or i get up off the couch and head to the kitchen. Did i mention they’re over weight?

I have trained our cat so well she will wake me up any time of night to feed her when she is hungry. She picked up on it really quickly too.

Cat caller=electric can opener. I don’t have either, but I’ve seen it often enough.

My two had both canned and dry for a while, but the dry was better for them so that’s all they eat now. One of them was choosy about the wet, but they both love the dry. It can be done, especially if that’s all they’re given.

My three cats get dry food most of the time to help control tarter. They get canned food as “Sunday dinner”.

For my herd of cats (okay, actually a clowder) all I have to do is start rattling the little food bowls and presto, zingo, everyone but the old man is sitting at my feet.

Now our cat of 13 years (she’s gone now), would only get ‘canned’ food once a year, on Christmas Eve when my wife made clam chowder. After several years, she figured out from the tree going up, the increase in smells in the kitchen and the can opener going and would go crazy just that evening from when the cans were opened, until the cans (mostly emptied, of course) were put down where she could get at them.
