Ted Rall for October 05, 2012
Transcript:
The 2000th U.S. soldier has died in Afghanistan, killed by an Afghan puppet soldier we trained to fight the Taliban, whose predecessors we funded and trained to fight the Soviets. Man 1: The timeline is clearly fubar. Man 2: There's only one solution: we must send someone back to 1979 to kick Zbiginiew Brezezinkis' butt.

For decades, our foreign policy seems to have been “let’s find the worst way possible to deal with this, and see if that works.” it’s like releasing rattlesnakes in your house because you saw a mouse in the kitchen. You don’t foresee a problem later on?

We have a long history of Texans starting or escalating wars. First LBJ with Viet Nam, then Poppy Bush with Gulf War I, fought for……..some reason, and then GWB with Gulf Wars II and III concurrently, fought for…..some reason. We should be glad that Rick Perry isn’t the Republican candidate.

My understanding is that one of the purposes of all this military action in oil-producing regions is to keep them terrorized into leaving the US dollar the reserve currency, so they can’t make deals without it, as that would have a severely negative effect on our economy.

The Maru part of the name refers to the common practice of giving Japanese ships names ending in Maru. A semi-accurate translation would be the Japanese ship that is SNAFU.

Give Ted enough time and he’ll start claiming the Taliban are “American Puppets” as well. Created, no doubt, during WWII, to fight the Nazis.
