If you think about the poverty they’re so desperate to escape, and the risks they take to get here, maybe you should.

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

America IS the land of opportunity! And yes people will do anything to get here and no you should not feel sorry for illegal immigrants, you should help show them the way to legally join us. You should help. These people want better for themselves and their families, their children and their future. And these people will do anything including the most terrible jobs for their families. They will do the kind of hard back breaking work that the lazy people will not do and they accept next to nothing for pay. They work hard and they will always work hard. There is always truth in comedy and it looks like Baldo is an American but there’s hope that he will wake up.

That people will risk so much to make a life for themselves here is a tribute to this great country of ours. There could not be a higher compliment to the USA; this is something to be appreciated.

Baldo dreams about the ordeal the people go through on long journey.

The illegal immigrants should get green cards so they will not be getting into trouble and deporting back to their native countries.

I have no problems at all with people wanting to come to this country for a better life. It is a great tribute, and everyone should have the same opportunities. But I’m not gonna feel sorry for those who cross the border illegally.

I understand the real point of today’s comic wasn’t necessarily advocating illegal immigration, but to point out not everyone has had it easy in life and Baldo should count his blessings. That said, I do want to address some of the comments here.

We don’t need more green cards issued or more legal paths to citizenship. There is is actually too much immigration coming in legal and otherwise. Our job markets cannot absorb them all especially now in our weak economy. This hurts legal immigrants in terms of increased competition for fewer jobs and continued suppression of wages in back breaking jobs that should offer better compensation. Also, please do not buy into the lie about lazy Americans not wanting to do certain jobs. The truth is in certain occupations like agricultural you are not taken seriously when inquiring about working if you are not hispanic. I have experienced this first hand as so have my friends. This hiring bias also now extends into many opening level jobs our youth need. I do feel for countries that aren’t doing well economically, but fleeing them doesn’t solve the problem. It only spreads it to another country.

Actually, the comic does promote illegal immigration - they could have easily made the same point by show casing a homeless family.
