When my daughter was two, one morning she refused to get dressed. Refused. Struggled. She cried. I cried. It was horrible. The director of the daycare said, bring her to me naked. .One time. That’s all it took. We drove down the highway with her screaming in the backseat, “But I’m NAKED!!!” .Never did it again..Problem with leaving them is that I really don’t have anywhere to go!
Hardware Dept. Absoloutely! My mother did that once, and then told us we still had to get to school! Walking!
Dotweasl. All it takes is one time for you to keep your promise. No threat, but a promise! Bet she believed you from then on, no matter what the issue was!
My grandson, “Jebediah,” wouldn’t and wouldn’t and wouldn’t unload the dishwasher last week, so I finally asked his dad to disable Jeb’s computer. He was mad as a wet hen, but got over it and for a while did stuff like rolling in the garbage cans unasked. Still takes him awhile now, but all I have to do is threaten . . .
We were always gotten up at least an hour and a half before we had to leave for school. Not only did we have to get cleaned up and have breakfast, but we also had to make our beds, and do some chores before we walked to school.
Mom always wondered why I was such a bear in the morning. She would LIE to me about the time. Say it was 8:15 or later (I had to be out the door no later than 8:35) and it was really about half an hour earlier. (I also had a habit of shutting off my alarm clock…….in my sleep)

Boy, do I know that feeling. I used to roll cold grapefruit under the covers to get my kids out of bed.

My mother certainly wouldn’t have tried that. I’d have been delighted to go back to sleep and skip school.
