First of all, pot is not a drug any more than alcohol, caffeine or nicotine. Or sugar. Or endorphines. They all get people high..But even though nearly every elected official (including ALL presidents going back to 1992 AT LEAST) who isn’t a complete dork has smoked weed, they can all go &%$#! their hypocrite selves for thumping their chests about marijuana prohibition protecting our children. (Thanks gricks.).Now why some of the wingnuts here think that a parent can fill their house with an arsenal of firearms and keep their children safe and sound, but can’t keep a few joints around the house without watching civilization collapse is beyond me..I blow a big bonghit in your face.
When Reagan mandated “random” drug testing of all employees, we sued, and won before the Supreme Court, and I got a lot of congratulations. (We did say pilots etc in critical positions of safety could, but not ALL employees.) A few years later, and a more “righty” appointment list on the far less than “supreme” court, and that earlier decision was overturned.
Looking at Britain, and the U.S., if you want to see who’s gotten the most rampant on destroying freedom and the rights of individuals, look right, not left.
With prisons competing with oversea companies for “outsourced” jobs, putting more prisoners to work in our prison factories run by private companies just makes sense. Still keeps americans from getting good jobs since business can’t compete with low cost prison labor, but it makes sense. Sad, horribly wrong, possibly criminal, sense. The Shawshank Outsourcing?C.
Good for you for never smoking weed and thanks for doing your part “for the children.”.I hope it doesn’t rage you to know how many potsmokers (including myself) easily pass these humiliating and unnecessary tests. So to answer your question about whether or not I care if my surgeon or pilot is stoned or not, all I can say is that some of them probably are and I’m still here.
Just think how many years ago Rush would have been off the air if the FCC had required random drug tests, or even his sponsors and stations carrying his feed (which he provided for free!).
I only ingest legal drugs, and I research each one before I start taking said drug, in case one of the side effects show up. (I.e: If a bottle says "_may_ cause drowsiness, in me it probably will.). I have never smoked in my life, although sometimes it smells that way because of the smokers out there who just happened to be upwind of the place I was going into. I thank my maternal Grandmother for that; all the cigarette smoke from the packs she went through (about a carton every 1-2 weeks) made me not want to even start that nasty habit..And yes, I’ve been tested a few times when I did work, but it always came up negative for the illegal stuff.

Probably a good thing we didn’t have weed this good and easily accessible when I was in high school.

Yeah! Right! Well, not quite right. I would not want to stand between a bloviating fat man and his oxycontin. Do you think he’s a liberal?
