Wat?

I don’t get why he simply didn’t have both out. Though I get why Janis chose not to argue. It’s beneath a person to argue about something so trivial. However, Arlo is also behaving absurdly eccentric.

This is just one of the reasons why this is one of my favorite comic strips.

And he’s sitting on the sofa with his arm around the Smiley Face, because Janis was not at home to hug.

That makes more sense…

Something more – because he has the smiley one’s eyes covered. Protecting it from political ads? Other one got turned?

Looks more like he severed the head of the smiley face. Odd.

Once painted the front door while wife and kids shopping. No one noticed color change. Paint odor gave it away.

Hello Janis…you are now entering the Twilight Zone. Everywhere you look you will see carved pumpkins…behind every door, carved pumpkins…..in the closet, carved pumpkins….in the pantry, carved pumpkins….in the laundry room, carved pumpkins…pull back the covers in your bed, guess what? CARVED PUMPKINS!!! Bwwwhhaaaahhhh!!!

He was watching football and wanted someone that was happy about watching the games with him.

I’m still guessing, I don’t get it.

He switched them as a joke on her, she didn’t know about the frowny-face one. He’s hiding the smiling one so she thinks there’s only one, and it changed expression. She was going to ask him about it, but then decided not to when she realized how silly it would sound.

In other words, she thinks she’s losing her mind.

Switching pumpkins on her, that’s wonderful. Makes up for having the furniture switched, the closets re-arranged, new food groups at dinner, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Arlo loves his mind games, and Janis is so gullible. Love a guy with a sense of humor like that.

He’s trying to make her think that the pumpkin itself changed from smiling to menacing, while he’s hiding the evidence that in fact it’s two pumpkins.

I’m going with those who think he’s just switching punkins to see if she notices. but I’m betting she noticed the smilely one on the couch.

Halloween is my favorite Christian holiday….It’s evolving into a lot of fun for adults……..

I thought perhaps the smiley face meant candy available, come on kids – and Arlo took over the candy. But it’s pretty early for Trick or Treat strips. You guys probably have it.

I think Arlo found the smiley pumpkin is just the right hight for his arm to rest on.

In college I once had a pumpkin that was really smooth and nice on one side and all messed up looking on the other, so I carved Janus, the 2 faced Roman god. The smooth face was nice and smiley and the other mean and wicked. I was intending to have the nice side out while the little kids were going around and then turn it, but when I put it on the stool we were useing as a stand, the light shining through the mean side ended up casting the spooky face on the wall behind and slightly above it. It looked so sinster I just left it like that all night.

A wonderful prank!
