“There’s no one left but thee and we and we’re not sure of thee.” – lyric John Birch Society. (or credo of today’s GOP)

It was pretty awful last night when Romney kept repeating that creating jobs isn’t possible when taxes are raised. Ol’ Hammer and Sickle Clinton did it (without a single Republican vote) and somehow managed to hold office during the longest economic expansion in U.S. history.

Yes, last night’s debate was pretty awful. Quite depressing. I’m just going to hang out in cartoon land today.

As to Eisenhower: Ike serves as president from ‘53 – ’61, during which the congress was Republican for only the first two years. According to http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxfacts/displayafact.cfm?Docid=213, the 91% max tax rate extended from 1950 – 1963. Hard to blame Ike.Likewise, Nixon inherited a 70% rate which was set during Johnson’s watch. And there it stayed, essentially until the Reagan years. Once again, hard to claim that Nixon (“the Red”) approved of the status quo.

When I think about last night’s performance by those 3 men, the President, the challenger and especially the moderator, I am thinking that possibly Denver’s altitude got to them and they all needed some oxygen.

Everyone who watched the debate lost because we had to experience Jim Lehrer. I haven’t seen a moderator responsible for that big of a disaster since April of 1986.

Jim Lehrer was the big loser (but he isn’t on the ballot).

Gotta admit,I was surprised at Leher’s loss of control, too. Everyone we thought would be on point…wasn’t. Hopefully, that’ll change at the next debate.

That’s not a picture of Nixon – I’m sure it’s Dr. Walter Bishop!
