Ironically, for my (somewhat delayed) Midlife Crisis I wanted and got a little car not quite as teeny-weeny as Peter’s, but mini enough….

I had a Renault Le Car once; the first semi to fill my rearview mirror convinced me to sell it.

I’ve had my Smart car for 4 years now. I do love the fuel economy. Since I use it for work most of the time, it’s just me anyway. But I drove it out to Illinois this summer – me, my grown son and our dog, on a trip of about 1,000 miles. It worked surprisingly well.

That in turn reminds me of a story my college girlfriend told me – once she was being bullied when her 6’+ brother drove up in his Gremlin and climbed out …

My cousin had one of those 3-wheeled Fiats, but that was back in the 60’s. We had a lot of fun driving it around the farm, until it was pecked to death by the roosters.

it looks like a french car – you know, small wheels and the longest wheelbase on a short car.

Funny, now that you mention the Smart Car, I see the resemblance to Peter’s car.

We used to pick up our teacher’s volkswagens and put them sideways in the parking stalls…

Many years ago, my husband got me a tiny used Fiat – two shades of green, forest and sickly. Once a car full of old people were running me off the road because they didn’t see me, and a policeman pulled them over :-). We had to get riid of it pretty soon because the gas kept getting water in it. My husband sold it to one of his students for cheap – the student was a mechanic and said he could keep it going. Fiats are better now, I hear.

The original “Top Gear” (the one shown in Great Britain) had a bit on the smallest car. Made on the Isle of Wright, it was small enough to fit in a passenger elevator with a passenger standing next to the car. It was a bit embarassing for the 6’5" driver though, the car did not come with a reverse gear. The driver had to ask the young, thin elevator passenger to pull him and the car out of the elevator.
