Congratulations to Arlo and family. And thank you Jimmy Johnson for letting us be a part. In my opinion today’s strip is the best of the best. Well done!!!

Now that’s getting to the point without making a long boring speech!

But why in an office with papers strewn about? It doesn’t look like the other guests are still there.

I might just be those three. The party has died down, everyone else has left. .To JJ, one of the best strips stilling running today and to many more to come.

Gus turned out to be a very good addittion to the dynamic. A man of few words.

Never say finaly, one of mine was knocking at the door three months later. “Can I stay here a few weeks?”. That was three years ago .

Yes! Looking forward to a “finally” moment next month. May be old-fashioned but I prefer “son-in-law” to “daughter’s umm”.

Perhaps he and his wife bought this bottle long ago for this special event.

Based solely on the shape of the glass in the first panel, it is some sort of cognac in the decanter. Port glasses, and burgundy glasses are much different. However, that said, A & L’s glasses are more like wine glasses and there is no indication that Gus poured the same drink for them as his own.

Since Mr. Johnson doesn’t colorize the dailies (remember the bird doo fiasco just a few days ago?), I don’t think we can assume anything by the color.

I’ll take a fine aged Rum any day. Plus the “special” bottle is a bit of sharing a very meamingful moment with kindred spirit. Have had a few of them myself over the years.

@Prrdh, but then again some of the colorists here think Seagulls drop purple stuff on you. So you can’t go by the color too reliably.

@Gokie5, I read Sally Forth at azcentral. If I click anywhere on the strip, it opens in a separate window and has a place for comments. Not many do but it is there.

I thought, at first, that it must be something he had been saving for a long time. But that appears to be a decanter, not a bottle. Anything being saved would surely be kept in the original bottle. And the open drawer suggests that there hasn’t been time to switch bottles. I believe this to be his regular drink. And why not? It’s what he likes, and he doesn’t seem the type to put on airs.
