All religions have people who interpret their holy scriptures to justify doing bad things to other people. They utterly ignore the passages that promote peace and harmony. The Christians did it to subjugate the indigenous peoples of the Western Hemisphere. “Christian conservatives” today use their holy scripture to justify discrimination against gays, just as they used it to justify enslavement and savage treatment of blacks.
The religion may be of peace, but so is christianity and look where its gone so far with the crusades and certain people these days. Its all in those who express the faith and the culture behind it.
You want a LARGE GROUP’s action? Let us look no farther that the South over the past century. The KKK operated “Under the Banner of God” to commit DECADES worth of atrocities. If the South is “SMALL AND LOCALIZED” then the Middle East is too.
Eric Rudolph’s line of thinking (KILLING those who have anything to do with abortions) is unfortunately not a “one in the crowd” incident. Abortion clinics have been targeted for many years and condoned by the “FEW SANE” people you think exist.
How about Waco, TX & Ruby Ridge. Your excuse will probably be that those are not “TRUE CHRISTIANS.” Take some time to get to know a “true Muslim” and they will tell you those kill in the name of Mohammad do not represent the MAJORITY of Muslims. Seriously try it, it won’t kill you. You might even learn something.
The world is populated by too many CLOSE MINDED people that see their way as the only way of thinking.
I’m quite sure you will find another way to justify your “SANE” thinking.
