Did that one time when I use to work on the road back in the day. I am currently a Texas Highway Patrolman. Not on the road anymore office details. But do “fondly” remember the days of callouts. I remember one night the phone ringing, some incomprehenisble words, then my wife asking me when the sun was brightly shinning “What are you holding the phone for?” I went whaaaat? Had to stand tall before the man on that one. It was all he could do to not start laughing at me.Took me years to get over a phone ringing and not running to answer it.Be at restauraunts the phone rings. I would say just hand it to me. It has to be for me. Was right about 90 percent of the time. AND ALWAYS JUST AFTER THE FOOD ARRIVED!I can be found on the TXDPS public website. Go to Recruiters, click on locate, go to Region 1, look under Hurst. There I be. That email is company.I have my own private, personal, paid for by me for me email. This is what I am on now.

Like that. Here is another. We have a deal go down way out in far West Texas down near the Big Bend area.Small town occupied but still ghost like.Called Terlingua. There is another site at CASI but all same e same. They have a big deal chili cookoff down there. Do not let the sweet innocent website fool you. It is a no holds barred complete loss of all morals, senses, and may times clothing. We in the TXDPS had one simple rule. Once you go in you do not leave till the party is over.We are manning the road block at the CASI site. It is about 2am. The place is jumping. Music, yelling and hollaring, trailers shaking back and forth. Decadence abounding. We observe three girls walking towards our place. We could tell as they go closer this was going to be a sight to see. Each one was wearing chaps, cowboy boots, a hat, and each had a pair of small vice grip pliers on. (Yes pliers)And nothing else.I of course being the old hand said “Howdy ladies and tipped my hat.” (My fellow officers were catching flies with their mouths wide open)They said “Howdy back, like our costumes? We are the Vice Grip Plier girls.”I went “Oh, that would explain.”“Having a good time?” I said. They just giggled and wiggled saying “Yes!”Some one hollared in the distance and one said “We got to go now.” “It was sure nice saying Hi”I said “Yes your are.”And they returned to the cookoff.

A friend of mine used to drive for UPS. The phone rang early one morning when he was scheduled to be off. He told his wife not to answer it; she did anyway. With that, he lost his day off as he had to go in and cover for another driver. He told her the only people who would call at that hour of the morning was UPS; if he didn’t answer, they’d go on to someone else. But not that morning.
