As any soccer mom or dad knows, the sport has been steadily growing in popularity in recent years, especially among young people! Kids will love a comic about one of their favorite sports, and parents will relate to the comic’s ever-supportive band of carpooling, game-attending, ref-scoffing parents. Join this group of pals, parents and coaches in their favorite game: soccer!
Cleats also follows the gang’s adventures in other sports. Playing tennis, baseball, golf, gymnastics, skateboarding and more, the kids and their parents laugh their way through games and practices.

Referree clothes = scary? Well, I guess it depends on your focus.
Somehow, though, I really don’t think a boggart would turn into a ref in front of Edith. Some of the other kids, yeah, especially the boys, but not Edith.

Oh great. If nobody gets it, I’ll explain it later today.

well Bill, start explaining….
besides, bogarting was getting my toke to wet…now what does it mean?

Boggarts (I think I have the name right) were in the Harry Potter books. Shape-shifting creatures that like living in dark, cozy places, like cabinets - they turn into your greatest fear. In the book, it took the form of a giant spider for one kid, a mummy for another., etc…
BTW, speaking of mummies, etc… I really miss the monsters v. space aliens football game this year. Just being cautious, Bill, or did that movie studio decide to be territorial? Too bad, really… You weren’t first, but you were there before them!

She was just dissing the ref. But I like the shape-shifting angle. I’ll use that when CNN calls for an explanation.
I’m glad you remembered the Halloween “Space Alien vs Monsters” strips. After that movie was made, I figured people would think I was ripping off the movie. Maybe I’ll do it again next year.

Maybe you could change it up a little, have a Monsters v. Space Aliens cookout and baseball game. Sometime between July 4th and the MLB All-Star Game. Some of the nonsense since the All-Star Tie deserves the surreal treatment. Winner gets to be home team in the Halloween game!

Bill once again you are being inacurate. With the eyesight on most refs they would not be able to see what she is wearing. Especialy since they would be looking at her from the center circle.

Hmm…interesting.

that is scary, especially considering the refereeing on the college level this year

Ah, sarcasm! Good stuff. After all referees are pretty scary since they seem to be getting a lot of calls wrong lately…

In the “B.C”,“Wizard of Id”, and “Cleats” strips anything from the 21st Century AD can show up in them.

The Boggart appears in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” both the book and the movie. Alan Rickman is hilarious as the boggart. What a trooper!
Edith should wear a big ugly black mustache to look even more like the mean old Ref.
Bill, we all know you did the Monsters vs Aliens strips long b4 the movie came out!

Edith is the Goaler
Referees award penalty kicks
Goalers think referees can be very scary sort of like the brainless walking
Before my wifes good cooking I was the goaler on my team so I know of what I mumble

So why don’t the referee have any candy for the little bugger?
Ya heard me?
