A tradition that’s sure to catch on in stadiums across the nation.

I wish I had the blob on my team.

I could become absorbed in this game, now that the Blob is on the field. Anybody here ever read Bored of the Rings?

Could someone please tell me who the human is supposed to be?

    Hmmm…

    E.T.
I think that’s Marvin the Martian’s helmet brush beside him.

Might it be Dr. Smith from Lost In Space? No, probably not.
    Uncle Martin? No, no antennae.
An android from an Asimov novel?

    I really don’t know.

Is that the guy from “Plan 9 from Outer Space”?

Bill is away today, so it’s pretty much up to us to figure out the identity of that “human”. All I know, and according to Bill, there are a total of 15 cameos this week (one very obscure, one almost out of the frame) and a generic zombie and a witch.

Who have we identified so far?

I like that the brainy alien (in the last panel) looks like he’s holding a bucket of KFC. Apparently, the colorist forgot to add yellow to his space suit. I’ll have a wing, please.

I’m guessing the “human” is actually a Vulcan from Star Trek.

The brainy alien is from Mars Attacks (ack-ack). I mention Bored of the Rings because these teams remind me of the description of the army that came out of the gates of Fordor: “…drooling divisions of pop-eyed changelings, deranged zombies and distempered werewolves…three thousand goose-stepping mummies…abominable snowmen on motorized bobsleds…six companies of slavering ghouls, eighty parched vampires in white tie and the Phantom of the Opera and Rhodan the Flying Monster…King Kong, Godzilla, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Beast with 1,000,000 Eyes, the Brain from Planet Arous, the Thing, It, She, Them and the Blob. The great tumult of their charge would have waked the dead, were they not already bringing up the rear.”

I like the Dune Trilogy: Lorna Dune, Brigadune and She Dune Him Wrong.

I’m not good at identifying any of these characters (except for E.T.) but I am interested in finding out their identities at some point. I hope Mr. Hinds doesn’t leave us guessing for too long.

runar I was talking about national lampoon’s Doon.

riding the giant pretzels on the wild sugar flats of the dessert planet.

Yes, I’m aware of that. It’s on my shelf right next to Rosematzoh’s Baby.

judging by the belt and barely discernible lighting bolt PossumPete was correct that it is Eros

Thanks to all those who tried to identify the human(oid) and congratulations to PossumPete and KingRat. That is indeed the leader from “Plan 9 from Outer Space”. Excellent eyesight to notice the lightning bolt insignia; I could make it out only on 200% magnification. A little Google Images confirms the picture. Now I’m off to contemplate 1) my inability to come up with a cool screen name, and 2) why I seem to be the only person to have paid to read these comics. Seeya, comics fans.
