    Probably everybody realizes by now those were Bounty® brand towels — “The Quicker Picker-Upper.” Throw enough of those babies over PR, and the floods will be sucked right up.

    Now is not the time to talk about gun control. I guess it’s not the time to talk about helping Puerto Rico in a meaningful way either. Now it’s time for what Trump only wants to talk about,…. trumps money, trumps family, Trump’s business, Trump’s ego. And how about those crowds….. they’re not quite as big as the ones he got in Houston…… Give you any ideas about what it’s time to talk about now? So when will it be time to talk about gun control? In a meaningful way?

    Q: Why can people on the terrorist watch list buy guns?

    A: That’s the law. Being on a terrorist watch list is not “in and of itself a disqualifying factor” for people purchasing firearms and explosives, according to a 2013 report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.

    People purchasing guns from federally licensed firearms dealers must undergo background checks, and they can be denied if they fall into any of 10 categories. These include convicted felons or drug abusers, people found by courts to have certain mental problems and immigrants in the U.S. illegally.

    The FBI is notified when someone on a list applies to purchase a gun, often resulting in increased surveillance of a suspect. But being a suspected or known terrorist is not one such category.

    People don’t need background checks to buy guns from unlicensed sellers, such as from some who offer firearms at gun shows or online. It’s unclear exactly how many guns are sold that way.

    The FBI also conducts background checks on people applying for licenses to ship or receive explosives.

    Q: Are there many sales to people on the terrorist watch list?

    A: Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., chief sponsor of legislation that Democrats are pushing following Orlando, got numbers in March from the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office, Congress’ investigative arm.

    GAO said from February 2004, when the background check system began monitoring the terror watch list, through 2015, 2,477 names of would-be gun and explosives buyers were on the watch list. Nearly all were for gun purchases.

    Of those, 91 percent, or 2,265, of the transactions were permitted.

    For comparison, the FBI and states conducted more than 23 million background checks last year for gun purchases, the most ever.

    Shocking news! Wayne LaPierre of the NRA finally found one regulation he can approve. He wants the ATF to look at the “bump-ups” that convert weapons so they are similar to fully automatic weapons.

    Wonders haven’t ceased! Just saw a note that La Pierre might support controlling bump stocks. Ducking the bullets he made sure were out there!

    For anyone wishing to boycott Koch’s consumer products, just Google “Koch Industries”

    { Probably a good thing that these were individual rolls, not multi-packs … otherwise, there might have been a ‘lost-time industrial accident’ }

    A while back, in this conversation stream, CAPT3292 posted “…have the intelligence to back your claims with facts and statistics…” (when criticizing our ‘dear leader", Donnie.) The point being, to my mind, is that ANY criticism of ANYTHING the Right-wing or its people espouse must be “backed” by facts and figures, while THEIR criticism of the Left-wing or ITS people needs no facts, no figures, no demonstrable reason for existing beyond the childish whine of “because, just because!” Bottom line, here, folks is that unsubstantiated claims made from the Left are condemned with cries of, “provide proof!” Claims backed by facts & figures are dismissed as “Fake News.” To have a “meaningful” conversation, both sides must at least have the same “world view” of what constitutes ’reality’. And the bizarro world that most Trumpians ‘inhabit’ doesn’t come close to reality in ANY measurable sense!

    Rest assured that Donnie will never see adverse ‘posts’ from ANY website – Donnie doesn’t “read” anything. he has ‘staff’ to cull the postings for favorable news and views which are then collated into a ‘daily briefing’ for his edification! Donnie is the closest thing that we’ll ever have to a “functional illiterate” in the White House – as a child, he probably discovered his inability to grasp subtle nuance and owing to his nearly unique financial position, was able to turn his ‘disability’ into just a strange ‘personality trait’! Remember the admonition, "If a person is poor, he’s crazy, but if he’s rich, he’s just eccentric!

    Oh, and, if you wish to get a message to Donnie, get your message onto “Fox News” – donnie’s a slavish ‘viewer’ of Fox – he absolutely ‘gets’ the simplistic structure of their news presentation, and if your ‘message’ can also incorporate a photograph of Donnie then you’re truly Gold! Remember, narcissists are among the most easily ‘played’ of the mental defectives!
