    Funny when I was educated, long before schools were politicized, we were taught that America was built on Majority rule.

    Now it appears that all you need to bring down traditions or the nation is to be a vocal minority group. Not only with marriage but with anything. How our Founding Fathers must be turning in the graves.

    If the courts do “do” their work the way you apparently want, it will not be in the “for the people, by the people” way that America is supposed to work.

    Ahhh, Not to rain on your dictatorial parade, but majority rule does NOT mean the 51% can screw the 49%. The Founders (let’s include the women, eh?) gifted us with a Bill of Rights to lock that fact in law.

    Thanks for setting Kevin straight, we were a federation of states to start with but we’ve let our politicians turn us into a democracy. We were a federation to keep the majority from ruling over the minority.

    You should go back to school. America was never built on “Majority rule”, but rather “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

    You should look up what unalienable means.

    Yes our current President was considered to be 3/5 of a man in their words. Rolling in their graves, not likely.

    Your school apparently didn’t teach you that our democracy is supposed to protect minorities from the oppression of the majority. Freedom of religion and that sort of thing.

    In my state, the majority of legislature, including some Republicans, voted to allow gay marriage. That is what the Founding Fathers intended, isn’t it?

    But I know that the “marriage is sacred” types are sincere because of all the protests there were over Britney Spears’s 55-hour marriage to Jason Alexander.

    Every last rationale I’ve ever heard against gay marriage always boils down to a child’s petulant cry of “that’s icky; make them stop!”. If you don’t like gay marriage, then don’t marry someone of your own sex. It’s that easy!

    (And here’s where I would’ve taken a shot at Bob “Which Marriage Are You Defending” Barr, but to give full and fair credit, he’s since rescinded his support for the DOMA bill he authored and now gives full support to marriage equality.)

    I do agree that banning all marriage is a little extreme. It’s just better to make them all equal instead.

    Unalienable rights explicitly protected by the Bill of Rights include, the right of free speech and practice of religion, the right to keep and bear arms, self-determination over the use of your own property, the right to be protect your property, the right to a trial by a jury, protection from cruel and unusual punishment to name a few. It also includes rights given use by our creator. But it is not your unalienable right to force your lifestyle on others or your beliefs on others. Unalienable rights have nothing to do with the Majority rule.

    I suggest you look up the definition of a federation. You will find that being a federation has nothing to do with majority rule. and read a history Book or two you will find out we are a Republic not a Federation.
