Saddam has nucular weapons. We’ll be treated as liberators. The war will be over in six weeks. And Iraq will pay for the whole thing with its new oil revenue.

It should have three heads that are trying to remove each other.
    .
Iraq was constructed by imperialists desperate to keep the indigenous populations at each other’s throats so that they were too busy to fight against the imperialists. I am sadly amused that the people who insisted we removed their last strongman to give them “freedom” now insist that we have to remain as a strongman to keep them under control.

Only the cleverest (and most patriotic) Americans can see Saddam’s New Nucular Weapons. I understand that those cleverest and most patriotic Americans can also see that the Americans were given new fêtes as liberators by all the good Iraqi people who were grateful to have been saved from all the evil Iraqi people.

(I have to admit, I am not clever, so I couldn’t see those new nucular weapons or new fêtes myself, and I can’t say what I thought I saw when Bush, jr was in that Presidential Parade in his New clothes, but I trust those who WERE clever enough to see those new weapons and fêtes and clothes.)

Neither of those two chickenhawks would have risked getting close enough to the “black night” (Saddam) to actually risk any harm to themselves. There thing was bunkers and undisclosed locations from which to send OTHERS to fight, die, or become disabled, all for THEIR greater glory!(and glory = PROFIT!)

Became ridiculous as soon as I saw Bush and Cheney in the strip…..y’know that Obama’s been in for SIX years now, don’t ya know? He’s single handedly making the sacrifices made there in vain.

Actions have consequences. Even years later, long after those you want to let off the hook because you happen to share their beliefs leave office. But as we’ve learned with the Watergate break in, Iran-Contra and the ongoing Iraq debacle Republicans are totally adverse to responsibility, letting their leaders off the hook at every available opportunity.

Iraq is falling apart on Obama’s watch. He let the leader of ISIS go.

This is a kick – they’re still blaming Bush; can’t stand to let any harm come to their precious Barack Obama.

“Making the sacrifices made there in vain”

The sacrifices were in vain, nothing can change that.
So just why should we sacrifice more?
Why would more dead be considered honoring the wasted lives?

I hope Obama is smart enough to get us out of the entire Middle East . We didn’t “break it in the first place”, as many of those who advocate American participation claim. Middle Eastern society has been broken for longer than the United States has existed. In the history of that region, peace has been a rare situation, always imposed by a government strong enough to prevent people who would otherwise be shooting (or throwing spears at) each other from doing so. It can’t be any different when the majority of people would shoot each other over religious differences that would be considered trivial by anyone who had any education that involved more than one book. And, those who are uneducated are convenient tools to gain power for those few who are not, which provides encouragement to keep them uneducated.

But the saying " the enemy of my enemy is my friend" does not apply in this case. Each side is our enemy. We are “infidels”, making us more “killable” to each side than the other side and going over there to interfere is of no value to anyone in America. We need to simply stand back, allow them to manage their affairs however they would if we didn’t exist, and maybe in a few hundred years they will work it out. Once they realize that we have lost interest in them, perhaps they will return the favor and ignore us too. Killing each other is a more immediate goal.In those cases where we can infuse some actual education into the mix, that probably would be helpful— which is why they hate teachers more than soldiers. But military interference from America accomplishes nothing except creating hatred for our country, and leaving tanks, guns and bullets where they can be used to prolong the fighting. Granted, mutual hatred for America could bring the two sides together sooner than might otherwise be the case, to attack us, but that doesn’t seem to me to be a desirable outcome. Ultimately, each country belongs to the citizens of that country, and until they fix it themselves, it ain’t fixed.
