That’s a beautiful 1984 reference, but let’s be frank: America has always been allied with corporations against whatever brown-skinned people have been foolish enough to live on top of natural resources that we want.

I think Obama is trying hard to get another Vietnam-like outcome so he can add that to his legacy…

Just a note: chickenhawks wanted more support for the rebels fighting Assad, not those SAME rebels are fighting al Malaki, because like many Iraqis, they hate the guy, but the U.S. blessed and kept him a long time ago, so now we’re supposed to support Iraq linking with Iran, and provide them support too??

Next Thanksgiving celebrate a step to freedom, by serving baked/broiled/or fried chickenhawk in every home in the nation.

Another isolationist. And isolationism was what led to the disastrous start of WWII.

Since then, all of America’s leaders (except for Jimmy Carter) learned their lesson, and the US has completely avoided isolationism and war since 1945 thanks to our internationalist peace-keeping efforts in Korea, Vietnam, most of Latin America (too many to enumerate), Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, …

And the American voters have shown they are too smart to elect an isolationist, so whomever gets elected will continue the necessary peace-keeping actions to preserve the Pax Americana that we’ve enjoyed since 1945.

Any outcome other than Vietnam-like was extremely unlikely from the start.

Being deliberately outrageous because, after all, turnabout’s fair play.

We could always try killing them all and letting Allah sort them out
    .
When you say “all”, just how many do you mean? Certain tribes, regions, areas, cities? Spare some of the women and children? (after all, “nits become lice”). How much “collateral damage” is acceptable… or just splatter the whole area?
    .
And how do you propose to do it? (nukes, bombs, camps, Zyklon B? all of the above – experiment?)
    .
No problem with morality, there? Mass murder is just spiffy with you, and no regrets?

“We could always try killing them all and letting Allah sort them out.”

Because we want to encourage would be terrorists from other part of the world to attack us while earning the condemnation of every other nation on earth?

As Thomas Friedman eloquently said, none of the parties in this war represent our interests, or even the interests of their own citizens. Why would we give them more weapons?
