    The one party has not been working out so well lately, perhaps now it can be a little bipartisan.

    Exercising the nuclear option is just like filibustering:
    It’s okay only if Republicans do it.
    -
    BTW, if it were Republicans exercising the option, it would be the nucular option.

    Confirmations were supposed to be about checking for qualifications and malfeasance. That ended with Bork. After which, all nominees had to keep their mouths shut before and during confirmation hearings. Until the Republican minority said it would block all confirmations, and the Democrats eliminated the filibuster for confirmations (except for the Supreme Court).

    But, when Bush, sr and jr were president with Republican majorities, the Democrats didn’t filibuster!

    Meaning, the Democrats agreed the laws/War resolutions were necessary, but knew their constituents would not approve, so they let the Republicans win with just 52 votes.

    The Republicans tried to demand 60 votes, but the Democrats changed the rules.

    Which will be great comfort to President Palin!

    @Tigger

    Actually, no one is thrilled with the situation, including Harry Reid. But blocking legitimate appointments for no other reason than political hatred is unsustainable.
    -
    Or is it okay with you for all presidential appointments to be blocked without a vote?
    -
    If the Republicans thought they could get away with it politically, they would even block, not vote down every cabinet position. I assume this would be okay with you as well?
    -
    Oh, and try to proofread at least a little bit.

    I used to lean strongly republican ideals but this has been the most non-productive congress in history. They keep beating on Obama care while all of the other problems are ignored. No immigration reform, no infrastructure program, no tax code reform, no nothing!
