IT systems given deadlines tend to be disasters. IBM came out with new computers, but no operating systems. (For years, other vendors developed simple systems that allowed buyers to use the IBM computers, but then the simple systems were ALWAYS abandoned when the insanely complex official IBM OS came out. Until DOS. Which turned into Windows. OS/2 never took off, a first for IBM!)

A friend wanted to be the first Internet Mall. He was told that, on August 1st, the website would be ready. In June, he ordered ads in print media to appear the last week of July and the first week of August. The website went live in De:ember. With no ads, and no customers.

And yet, all the Obama campaign websites came out on time and worked perfectly: fast, clean, and no glitches.

But the ACA website, according to Obama, has a few, very tiny problems, but he is deeply embarrassed, since he’d hoped for a flawless ACA website.

Meanwhile, the CNN reporter assigned to sign up for ACA required two weeks before she could sign up. After which, she found that the ACA provides everyone with affordable care.

Google ‘Fox Obamacare lies’, and see that all those who said Obamacare was too expensive on Fox were lying. (I saw links on the New York Times and CNN, but not the actual refutations, and now I can’t find those links.)

And yet, Mr Rall and myself saw unaffordable plans.

Which just goes to show one must NOT see for oneself, one must trust the US president, CNN, and the New York Times.

I do like Mr. Bennett’s cartoon. I’ve had the same feeling ordering from a new website I’ve not used before.
It will be interesting to see how the site is operating in another 90 days. If it, and the VA sites, are not fixed by then, I will begin agreeing that someone needs to be fired. I tend to believe in second chances as it is my hope the ones making mistakes will learn and not make those mistakes again.

They could make it more user friendly by putting a big “Trust us” on the web page….

Other lies: the state exchange sites work fine. The problem is with the federal site — and all the people who have to sign up there because their states won’t implement the law of the land.
