I doubt the party Lincoln was a part of is anything like it is today.

Lincoln was the first Republican President. Starting to think Nixon may actually have been the last. From the cynicism and fraud of “Reaganomics”, to the “TEA party” types, caring for the good of the people, and the country, has disappeared in movements to pamper the privileged.

I really can’t associate today’s radical right with either Republican or actual Libertarian values. The fact that they’re suported by those who will never be a part of that privileged economic class, displays a form of schitzophrenia, where the voices in their heads are orchestrated by radcalized propaganda, very well orchestrated!

Did anybody see the wedding on The Colbert Report that was scheduled to be at the Jefferson Memorial?

Still no response from Fox “news” viewers about whether the government shutdown (Fox says it’s just a slimdown) is a good thing or a bad thing.

Haven’t heard from Rush the Drug Addict lately. What does he think about it?

You for got the fraud of Nixon an Watergate, which in my opinion, he should have been put in Federal Prison for Life for his Watergate Crime

I guess I am Chicken, because I am not going to call his how. Whatever that means. You might try proofreading once in a while.
    -
What about YOU, Tigger? Government shutdown is a good thing or a bad thing?
    -
Too complex for a Fox “news” viewer to answer?

Considering how the great switch in parties in the 1960’s maybe Lincoln is now in the Democratic party.

Slaves to what exactly? You are very good with glib throw offs but when it comes to brass tacks of detail you are barren.

The poor are not forgotten. They still get every “benefit”/entitlement they ever did. 46% of the population pay no federal income tax.

The top 1% of wage earners in the US pay 38% of all income taxes collected. The top 5% pay 50% of all income taxes collected.

Yet the VA is furloughed, so veterans and their families lose their benefits.

What is the matter? Did the Democrats (that ordered the barriers to be put up) run out of someone else’s money?

Lincoln was cool. He’d rather have a civil war then bow to the vested interests in the south. Same thing today (only not that regional, globalisation has at least spread the money around more evenly in the U.S.). But still: some billionaires (Koch) get some yokels (TEA) to do their fighting for them against a government that wants to protect the integrity of the nation (Obama). I was warning against a new civil war in the U.S. for years. Well, maybe your civil war will be a very civil one :-)

Nixon (and Eisenhower and even Reagan) were socialists compared to the current crop of Republicans. They have been taken over by the Goldwaters and McCarthys. Full of suspicion, cynicism, and paranoia.
