He’ll drive off like Homer Simpson did. So what if he wrecks the fenders, wheel assembly, and the street?

The Abu Ghraib water boarding & electric massage parlor, and GITMO vacation center, unburdened from the universal convention of human rights, didn’t really polish America’s image.

    Any gas being used lately?
Any more Saudi gas getting released with the whole world watching?
    .
So was this absolute insistence cruise missiles MUST be used?
What is the revenge angle we are not being told about? or is it money again?
It certainly is not about saving lives of innocents.

When a tyrannical dictator uses WMD in the form of poison gas against a civilian population and when it is reported he has manufactured and stored thousands of tons, it is time for the International community to take a stand, including Canada.
    .
What is strange is that the U.S.A. who have the military capability in the area to deliver a swift, targeted, and punitive strike that will deter future use, is finding support for such action difficult. This is no time for capitulation. It is time to support the President, including other nations.

“America may no longer claim moral authority in the world if it stands idly by while women and children are being slaughtered in Syria.”

We still get a pass on ignoring genocides in other places, though right?

Ah, well. We’ll always have Kosovo, right Doc?

Reports are that 40% of the deaths are on the Assad side in this CIVIL WAR! We don’t need to go into it, let the folks at den Hague handle it. (Oh, right, the U.S. doesn’t support the international criminal court, because OUR “bad guys” might get caught some day, like well, in 2003?)

Hmm, maybe Obama IS smarter than we think, and just going to Congress to get the attack mode turned down, so they CAN give it to den Hague? Kerry today IS backing letting removal of all WMDs, with verification by the international community be a “way out”.

It would be nice to have someone, somewhere, be rational. Nah, that won’t happen.

And what, exactly, are you proposing???

The new and improved Observer says the US should be able to destroy the Syrian government with cruise missiles. The two sides are close enough that, with government resources degraded by missile strikes, the anti-government forces should be able to crush what’s left.

And then the anti-Syrian government forces have promised to kill every infidel in Syria. And after that, every infidel in the Arabian peninsula. Then the world.

    Great plan.

And, since Kerry’s lying was obvious to anyone who has studied rhetoric, the US/UK/French ‘proof’ that all the chemical attacks were by the Syrian government looks unconvincing in the extreme. Faux precision is a common trick of liars, and Kerry used it extensively.

We know someone killed hundreds of small children, be we can’t know for certain which side. The US/UK/French claim that the anti-government forces have no access to any chemical weapons is patently false.

Not all of the rebels are Qaeda, and even among the Salafist jihadi, few believe in the wholesale killing of non-Muslims. Christians in Syria are being targeted because they support Assad.

If we bomb all of Assad’s heavy artillery & aircraft, the war will still drag on, especially if Russia uses our involvement as an excuse to give more support to Assad.

Thanks for a well reasoned response the other day. Enjoy the good stuff in life!

PS- I think Canadian PM Harper backs the war faction, but I’m not so sure Dr. C is on the same page as his leader on this issue.

You won’t need a gun to be safe in Canada, if they let mouth breathers cross the border.

    .
Is it just me or are Righties hearing and comprehension impaired?
    .
It is not an invasion or a long protracted war as the Bushies would do, its a swift, targeted, and punitive strike designed to deter further use of poison gas.
    .
Already there are signs Putin may be the peace-maker to avoid weakening his best buddy al-Assad. (We’ll have to see where that goes.)
    .
Not unlike Americans thought Hitler was not their problem until getting a wake-up call from Japan.
