A tad off topic but why did Facebook suddenly disappear from the list of “Shares”?

Agree with kindnessmatters!! completely. What I’ve never understood, too, is why, in a gated community, Zimmerman felt the need to ride around with a gun patrolling streets and sidewalks. Isn’t the whole point of a gated community to make that unnecessary? To me Zimmerman comes across as a vigilante.

Historically, gated communities “keep the riff-raff out” at first. Later, they turn into prisons for the wealthy. When large groups feel they need fences, guards, and gates to be able to feel safe, it says a lot about the society they are part of.

    It does, doesn’t it?

And it says something about the society which accepts this, too.

No. Too much liability. Now that there are no more afternoon papers, the only papers that are delivered are dropped off to carriers at about 3 AM on some dark street corner. Too dangerous for kids in today’s society; newspapers will not take the chance, and I can’t blame them.

It’s more that it’s too expensive. They can pay minimum wage with no benefits to one person who delivers 500 papers which is less than they’d have to pay a dozen carriers. They also have to pay someone to supervise them.
Liability is probably an issue, but they don’t want to be bothered when they can put it all on one worker.
In any case, it always comes down to money.
While I agree in teaching kids the value of hard work at an early age, where are they to find work?
Maybe the people who believe in Job Creators have some ideas.

Simplest solution would have been for TM not to have in his possession Skittles & Arizona Iced Tea—key ingredients in cutting a street drug called “Lean”.

The media has mis-portrayed Neighborhood Watch/Crime Watch efforts, at least as I’ve experienced them here in the deep South, where I live in a neighborhood with black people as well as whites, and where our Neighborhood Watch police liaison is an African-American. We NEVER take the law into our own hands in our group — we just look out for each other, mostly by teaching neighbors things like the importance of good outdoor lighting, locking garage doors, etc.

By getting to know each other, we have made friends, and friendly acquaintances, among all racial/ethnic groups represented in our area. That is, rather than suspect strangers, we find a friendly “hello” goes a long way to establishing positive future interactions.

I am so, so sorry that good multiracial community efforts like ours have been made to seem so negative by the media.

    GOOGLE: “Trayvon Martin Crime”
You’ll get plenty of his “Side of the Story.”
A 12 year old angelic waif he was not.
    GOOGLE: “Tracy Martin Crip”
His absent father was a stellar role model too.

There was no murder. A rigged trial that backfired on the state proved that.

No, he wasn’t trespassing. How was Zimmerman to know this? With what was in the 911 tape, what shows you he did not believe the need to keep an I as to where this unknown person was headed? Maybe Zimmerman should not have got out his car, but as all lawyers have said, that was not a crime. So, no it was not cause for Treyvon to use self defense. If Zimmerman have confronted Treyvon then yes it would have been. But as testimony presented by the state of Florida stated, it was Treyvon who confronted Zimmerman. The defense then noted after a 4 min period of time that neither of the two had contact it was Treyvon who stepped out and confronted Zimmerman. As presented in court Treyvon could have continued home during that period of time instead of lay in wait. Evidence presented was what led to the verdict, let’s move on.
