Republicans are smart enough to realize that they could use some support from the Hispanic community. And they are smart enough to know that it will be easier to convince Hispanics of the correctness of their message than to convince their fellow Republicans of the value of changing their priorities. Their idea of a big tent is gigantic on the outside, miniscule on the inside.

As long as they continue to think that their problem is not the message, but the way the message is conveyed, they will continue to prove that Bobby Jindal was right in characterizing them as the Party of Stupid.

A very large part of this nation was occupied by “Hispanics” for a couple centuries before the Anglos showed up. Let me see now, those first explorers to find the Americas were funded by WHAT country? (Even THEY had to hire “foreigners” for captains and navigators!!)

If you don’t want illegals here, prosecute the businesses that hire them. Pretty simple. NEVER done.
    -
Of course, that would be Bad For Business, since it would reduce the amount of cheap labor available. Much better to claim that there are headless bodies out in the desert.
    -
And, it’s not only Mexicans that come here illegally. What effect will a sealed border have on non-Mexican illegals?

“Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name – the Mother of Exiles…”
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

It is these words that have made America the ballyhooed “Shining City on the Hill”. If you really think there is not enough America to go around, you need to get out more. See this place you claim as your exclusive, gated community. Like Love, Her bounty is never diminished in the sharing, only multiplied.

No Native American said that unless you can provide a reliable source. And no conservative has yet to produce evidence that undocumented workers vote in Federal Elections.

Manifest Destiny wasn’t empowering for the indians. I suspect the average American is not going to loose their lands, culture,or most of their relative to genocide. So your analogy of our current immigration problems, to what happened to Native Americans, is really faulty. Try www.nclr.org for some real facts.

ansonia said,“Seal the border before any legislation is passed.” You need your morning coffee ansonia. If we could seal the border…no legislation would be necessary.
