    Am I the only one here that questions why a girl that cannot be legally given an asprin at school is allowed to take medication unsupervised and without parental authorization that prevents a fertalized ovum from implanting itself? And any complications that might arise from this drug use is the financial responsibility of the parents. Perhaps they should have a say in the health care given to their minor child. Especially if there is controversy about the morality of procedure.

    “There is no scientific connection between birth control and STDs.”

    But there is a connection between STDs and unprotected sex. In the minds of conservatives, the punishment fits the “crime”.

    Conservatives hate allowing 15 year olds access to birth control of any kind.
    They also hate allowing 20 year olds access to birth control of any kind.
    They also hate allowing 30 year olds access to birth control of any kind.
    -
    Why do they encourage unplanned pregnancy so much?

    You neo-cons would like that. you restrict access to devices AND you restrict access to education, then decry “low information” voters.

    another incredible story is about gardisil. When inoculated, It prevents HPV infection in women, but the neo-cons want to restrict it because it removes the risk and ‘punishment’ aspect of getting HPV (or pregnant) from sex. and after all, that’s what you want, punishment for sex.

    there is NO controversy about the morality of any of this. If you find it immoral, don’t do it. I find it the ONLY moral alternative. so keep imposition of your “morality” away from the law and other people. simple.

    Christian Cons are all about the babies. Out birth the world. However many of them don’t want to pay for the unwanted children.

    really…..

    Sure make the pill part of a rape kit. Sell the thing over the counter. Let your conscience be your guide.

    IMO, it is a mistake to take the parents out of the equation. Now why is that? Should the state be raising all children? Do we want cookie cutter children? And what about ethics and morals? Will you let OUR government teach ethics and morals for cryin’ out loud? Shoot, in NYC the man with a BUNCH of ethics charges against him was re-elected even though he was “censured”, put a “shamed” governor into a Representative slot – his opponent not much better on the commitment/relationship level – and another shamed congressman is trying to make a comeback ….. yep …… our government sure displays ethics and morals.

    Let Mom and Dad have some of the responsibility that comes with having children or is it that you really do want to cut them out

    @Ms. Ima

    I agree with you they are getting in to sex a lot younger but it because of all the sex on tv. What happend to the shows like leave it to beaver where building a relationship was the goal not how fast you can get laid. We are putting more into having sex than finding someone you can spend you life with

    Reality check – We are a nation with laws founded on the Constitution, not the Bible.

    @Orthodox Catholic

    Curious, since I haven’t checked in quite a while: How do Orthodox Catholics feel about condoms, diaphragms, vasectomies, and tubal ligations?
    -
    I’m all for encouraging moral behavior, especially in our institutions, including the church, govt., and business.

    One more thing — sex is evil?

    @Orthodox Catholic

    “I didn’t say that — did I?”
    -
    “Why is it that Liberals support doing that which is evil and then support a “cure” which is twice as evil (abortion).”
    -
    Maybe I misinterpreted it.
    -
    So sex is not evil except outside of its “proper place” and guess what? You get to define what that proper place is.
    -
    You also did not address the question about condoms, etc.
    -
    It’s also amusing how Republicans encourage MORAL BEHAVIOR by electing Mark Sanford to represent them.
    -
    Not to mention how the Church encourages MORAL BEHAVIOR by its priests.
