    Yup, the NRA has drawn a bead on common sense. They’ll fire at anyone who dares propose it. And the cowards of GOP kneel down and lick’s the NRA’s boots. No editor would accept a fiction story so unbelievable as what is happening in DC right now. Yet it’s true. It is actually true. It will be our ruin as a nation.

    @HOWGOZIT

    In fairness, he does not single out the GOP here. Rather, he posits that the NRA has both houses nicely wrapped up and well manipulated, regardless of party.

    Howie, I enlarged the toon to read it clearly. Didn’t see anything about the GOP, just what cdward commented on.

    Gee rick.
    If barry and eric did their jobs, this would not be a problem. The prosecutions of this admin.are down 40% for the last 4 yrs. For firearms.
    The doj has never charged anyone with violating the “instant background check” law.
    And eric let a couple of armed blackpanthers go when they intimidated white voters in Philly. After they were convicted. Let them go free. No jail…..WTF.
    Whitey can’t vote anymore????

    By the way. NRA 5 million members. And growing. +1 million new members this year.
    That should tell you something.
    msnbc won’t tell you the truth. Change the channel.

    Maybe Clay is saying. Get used to the Double Barrel Shotgun.
    Approved for use by the US Senate and VP.

    That’s all Freemen will have after this debacle.

    BTW: for the ‘zippies" and “skeptics”, in my local small town paper, in the last three weeks, five folks have been picked up on other charges, and jailed for “convicted felon in possession of a firearm”, and gotten heavy new sentences for THAT offense. The Brady bill has been highly diluted, restricting the DOJ’s ability to deal with the “background check” rule, which BTW, part of that dilution is the fact the Feds can only keep a record for only 24 hours, while the NRA and gun manufacturers can use those “instant checks” to keep sending you material to join the NRA, or buy another weapon!!

    The roughly 300 ACTUAL “gun laws” on the books, which isn’t anywhere close to the thousands the NRA and JBS, and other “radical groups” claim exist, do need to be beefed up some, without necessitating any loss of rights under the Second Amendment, which DEMANDS “Well-regulated” possession of “arms”. (Which, btw, included swords, battle axes, and bayonets, not just “firearms”, which of course were all muzzle loaders at the time, and there were NO “auto loading” pistols or rifles around.)

    Wow, so many/ lies and falsehoods, I don’t know where to start. EVERYTHING you claim is wrong. But your opening salvo with the “socialist/fascist/democrats” was enough to know you knew nothing about what you wrote. But as to your other points
    1) S&P was the only rating agency that downgraded the US credit rating. Whereas they called out blame for Congress as a whole, they also specifically and exclusively called out the Republicans by name as being at fault for the downgrade. So there is your lie #1.
    2) President Bush added more debt in his four years than President Obama has in his first four years no matter how you slice it, fiscal years or calendar years. My analysis yesterday using figures from treasurydirect.gov proves this. And if you take the debt added during his regime plus the minimum $3 trillion in legacy costs for his policies and pt war, he added 47% of the total US debt as of 3/19/13. That is your lie #2
    3)The economic devastation started under President Bush, President Obama had essentially nothing to do with the economic crash that he inherited from king george. That is your lie #3
    4)As for destroying this country and the constitution, well there are cases to demonstrate both parties are guilty of both allegation, but still that is a matter of opinion on either count.
    As for the rest of your missive, very crude and hostile there. Maybe it is you who needs the meds, at least mood altering ones to make you at least tolerable. I called them your lies, but to give you the benefit of the doubt let’s at least agree that you were wrong on 3 counts, and the fourth is a draw at best. But now you should know the truth, if you continue to spew the partisan Kool aid then you will in fact be a liar. Please set a better example and stop lying.

    @mickey1339

    Mickey, I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I must say Howie was right, I think. I think what he was referring to was Rickopolis’ comment where in part he wrote, “And the cowards of GOP kneel down.” I don’t think the Clay was the “he” Howie was referring to.
    .
    Rick was only partly correct, there are cowards in both parties beholden to NRA and I think that was Howie’s point, there are not only Republican’s too weak-willed to stand up to the NRA, but there are also many Democrats who are too cowardly to do so either. And any member of Congress who voted for this legislation, in my opinion, is an indefensible coward.

    “Sure thing. polis, all the Republicans fault. …”

    You miss the point again. The cartoon has House and Senate, or didn’t you look that close. The last I heard, the Senate has a Democrat majority. You might check out Signe Wilkinson’s cartoon too.

    saywhatwhat GoComics PRO Member said, over 1 year ago

    Ok, ok. Howie was talking about another comment, not the cartoon. Still tell me the knee-jerk support for the NRA isn’t overwhelmingly a Republican characteristic. As Wilkinson’s cartoon has it, Democrats are only semi-automatic.
