Having female friends killed in Iraq, my question is, who thinks they HAVEN’T been in “combat roles” (like medics are always in the thick of it, it’s in the job description.)

But, how come it’s the “right wingers” who still think women can’t carry a gun, well, unless it’s at home, or church, or school classroom.

Trout, that makes no sense. If anything, conservatives endorse women carrying guns. Over the years I have taught numerous women to shoot and concealed carry training on a number of different weapons. I didn’t ask them what their political affiliation was because it had no bearing on what we were doing. I can assure you they were all aware of the laws regarding concealed carry and were very responsible individuals. Accurate too, as a side note. Once they got used to recoil etc they demonstrated very good hand to eye coordination and were good “instinctive shooters.” They were always very attentive and followed instructions better than many men, probably because there wasn’t a testosterone factor involved.

That’s true. The women in my life are all good shots. I’m extremely polite :)

I believe the point of your comment is the resistance to women infantry in the army.
This is being ignored for some reason.
    .
Yes they can shoot, why not let them do it in uniform? Why the fear?

You usually do a very good job of both comprehending and responding to other poster’s comments but you missed dtroutma’s point on this one.
He is quite aware that many women can take care of themselves far as guns are concerned and conservative support the right all citizens, including women, to carry guns.
He also knows that women in support roles often find themselves in the thick of combat.
He is asking why conservatives are opposed to women in combat.

You’re the one who feels women can’t handle a gun as you are against Female Teachers having a Gun as you stated it will take to long to teach them the proper use of the gun

Why is dtroutma agaisnt Female Teachers having a Gun in the Classroom? He said it would take too long to train her on the proper use of a gun.

Are conservatives opposed to women in combat? I haven’t seen anything on that.
    .
I think everyone agrees that as long as a woman can pass the same test that the men have to pass, there is no problem.

The ONLY opposition to this move is from the right. It’s not most conservatives, of course, but it’s only conservatives.
